You definitely do not have the proper pedigree to live in the UPS pilot ghetto of Oldham County. But you have a promising future working on the ramp with your breeding.

Hey now, there are still parts of Oldham County where the SUVs give way to Pickup Trucks. But no, you're probably not going to catch me in Anchorage. As for working the ramp, too late, '96-'99 Veteran of trying to run your airplanes in to various things (marshalling).

If you left on good terms and had a good work record, UPS likes to hire previous employees.

Oh, believe you me, I'm aware. My attendance record was a bit spotty (just out of high school), but I got a nice slightly used t-shirt for keeping two multi-million dollar aircraft from swapping paint and I think I tricked my supervisors into liking me, assuming they still work there/are alive/can be found. I've had my beady little eyes on your airplanes since I was building model airplanes (and blowing them up). Now I just have to make sure I'm competitive when the hiring window opens up again in 2020.

My favorite was building model naval vessels and burning them in the back yard. Billowing black smoke from the burning plastic and explosions from implanted firecrackers. World War 2 in my backyard!

Never thought of putting fireworks in something like that. Good Idea!

Maybe I'll teach that to my nephew to piss my sister off!

They want the best and brightest up there? Ok, start with more pay and more rest periods. Geesh, this is obsurd.

Buy some 1/32 scale fighter jet plastic models. Basic airframe construction and some model rocket engines later, you're having a great time.

Even better! I already have spare rocket engines in the garage.

I went to a week long summer seminar thing at the Air Force Academy before my senior year in high school.

We built model rockets in one class. It was a ballistics/rocketry experiment class to see what kind of innovative designs we could come up with.. then launched them on a parade ground to measure distance.

Most put odd wing or canard type devices on a single rocket tube. Most made it halfway down the field.

I won. I built a two-nacelle model with two engines wired together that hit somebody's car on the far end of the field. The instructor looked a little nervous after that.

That's hilarious!! Once I mounted a model rocket engine to one of my son's monster trucks. It almost burned down a field. This thread got way off track..

We used to get 3ft. sections of 1" diameter steel conduit and attach brass brazing rod sights and make homemade RPGs to shoot bottle rockets at each other.

Well, let's face it- this new airline bill this thread mentions makes about as much sense as a JATO pack on a VW Rabbit, which is more or less along the lines of what we were actually talking about.

It works.

Bah, thats childs play. Get a 6" thick walled steel pipe (you'll need the thick wall) stick it in a fire ring pointed roughly where you want projectiles going. Let that pipe get RED hot. Drop 1 pound propane cans down the pipe. Be amazed.

That sounds entertaining.... And to think, I thought we were cool with our giant potato cannon up at summer cottage....

Doctors kill more people than any airline accident. I have never heard of them going in for recurrent. The doctor operating on you someday may have just squeak by at med school and had to retake their tests. We will never see any congress intervention on that now will we?
