Default Jetblue Question

Just curious if we have any pilots on here who work there??? Seems like their news today with increase might lead to some hiring next year.... It seems like a place we never discuss on here, which from my experience lately it seems like no news is good news.... Be curious to just hear from someone over there if we have any on here.... A small clip from the article since it wont let me view the whole article now.... But it sounds like good news for Jetblue....

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...googlenews_wsj

JetBlue Airways Corp. said Thursday it plans a big expansion of service next summer at Boston Logan International Airport, boosting the number of daily flights there by 30%.

The profitable discount carrier, the No. 7 U.S. airline by traffic, said it already offers the most nonstop destinations of any airline operating out of Logan, with 30 airports served in the U.S. and Caribbean. By summer, it will serve 33 destinations from Boston, and offer up to 78 daily flights, said the carrier, which is based in Forest Hills, N.Y.

JetBlue’s growth in Boston, a city it began serving in 2004, ...

I went to a career fair in Dallas early in the summer and spoke with the lady that pretty much runs the show in terms of hiring and she hinted at hiring for the spring. She said it was possible in the fall but unlikely... take that for whatever its worth

Any major airline hiring spree will help us in the regional trenches a whole lot! Let's hope it will be a lot of hiring. I've heard about this JB hiring as well.

Fins Up is a JB pilot, but I don't see him posting much anymore. JB is a close #2 on my list since they've got an MCO base. Here's hoping. I put my stuff in as soon as I got my ATP, and I've been updating it about every 3 months.

He probably got tired of being bagged on, being called a "scab" and being told he was "lowering the bar" for working for a non-union carrier.

Some guys like to fight and be keyboard ninjas.

Others, well, they rightfully don't care and leave the site. Every time this happens, and we lose a bit of intelligent diversity, we take another step away from a "pay it forward" community towards the brutal anonymous internet sniping of all the other forums.

Like a lot of other people, I know a guy that works there. He's very happy and the company has met his expectations.

Several CAs I flew with here as an FO are now there. Every one of them is happy with the company.

Well, if the hiring of FAs is any precursor, they should be hiring pilots soon. They had the posting for FAs up for less than a day before it was removed. They got thousands of applications, and I got locked out. (I wanted to update my profile I have with them, but by the time I got home from work it had been pulled.) Hopefully, they won't be able to get 175 (rumored # of FAs they're hiring) and they'll repost it!

I spoke with a pilot recruiter from JetBlue a month ago, he mentioned they'd start hiring pilots in 2011.

That was a month ago though... looks like it'll be sooner?

Hey Fellas. Your resident JB guy here. I don't spend too much time on the boards these days.

I have not heard anything about hiring for next year. My guess is if it does happen it won't be until late in the year. It seems logical that a 30% growth in BOS should lead to a need for more pilots. I doubt we're scaling down any of the other hubs much. I have heard that 2011 should be when we start growing again.

The 'scab' talk and all the other anti-JetBlue stuff doesn't bother me. I'm happy with the new rates and rigs we just got. Our E190 CA's just got an awesome raise that should help out the USAir guys. (I did hear that USAir might get rid of theirs because they don't want to pay those rates.)

I've been at JB about 3.5 years and I am enjoying it. We just got the raise (with retro checks dating back to June 1st) during the crappiest economy in years. Things could be a lot worse.

Did they finally pay that? I had a guy on the jumpseat last month who was telling me that they kept pushing it back. Good for ya'll if the money finally came through.

Know two guys there. Both very happy (and fairly senior). Question though: can I still loathe the yankees and think New Yorkers as a group to be self impressed jerks?

Some folks might tell you that the retro pay was pushed back but it wasn't - at least not much - as far as I can remember. Payroll had to go through 2,000 individual pilot accounts and redo all the numbers. I'm not surprised it took a while. My check was dead on within a couple bucks of what I calculated myself. I'm pretty impressed.

P.S. Yankees can suck it!

Yeah I try not to rot my brain on the six different boards I'm registered on too much. Gotta go outside once in a while.

See, you're problem is you're on all those other boards. I know what you mean though... I used to read five different aviation message boards. Now down to two. Three of them were outright depressing. Sort of like the "Airline Pilots" section here.

What's up with this "5 year contract" thing I've heard? Is it hogwash?? A friend of mine based in ATL said he wouldn't do Jetblue because you essentially fight for your job every 5 years....???? Sounds like baloney to me, can you shed some light on the one Fins Up?

Hell, you're apparently up for your job every 6 months here. Seen the dequal rates lately?

This was a big question I asked, and from what I gather, it's more or less a non-issue. If you're doing what you're supposed to, you'll get renewed.

Talking to a JB guy on my way home one night. He made sound like it is really hard not to get your contract renewed. He said less then 10 guys haven't had theirs renewed.

Hmm, I guess you work for JetBlue and saw that on an internal board. I just updated my on-line application and am ready to hit the send button the minute I see the posting! Good luck to me!
