100 mesa guys, starting april 7. Probably includes me. Interestingly also includes enough R.G. the COO of Freedom Airlines, who co-signed the email. So he's furloughing himself. But somehow I think he'll keep his COO job.

Wow, that Mesa news is crappy. I was just talking to a guy in interviewed with back in the beginning of 08. We both got class dates offered to us but I declined to go to TSA and he took it. I was talking to him 25 minutes ago and asking him how things were going and he said Mesa seemed to be doing fine and was happy. 20 minutes later he tells me he's furloughed. Crazy industry. Best of luck to the Mesa guys.

| Old Skool | That sucks. Sorta like our ACP in DTW and "director of flying" were caught in the downgrade storm. Curiously, they're still hanging around in their current position.

Bummer SpiraMirabilis. I just hope they do not lay off any additional ground crew as well. But at the same time I am not surprised. I wish you the best of luck. | |

AWAC to recall 6 more F/O's and re-upgrade 4 more captains July 1st. Plus, they know we will be having schedule reductions this Fall as well. |

Great news. Where does that bring your total count of those on furlough?

Wonderful news indeed. Seems the tide is slowly turning. Not that I'm any huge prognosticator of staffing levels, but I think it'll be a good two years before everyone recently furloughed has been recalled.

The recall class at AWAC for July is rumored to be the last one for a while until things get better. |

Great Lakes furloughed today. Got a message from one of my buddies who was 2 days away from his checkride and his class was furloughed today. Waiting to hear back on the numbers. RD

Damn, that sucks. There is a rumot that Mesa may not furlough the full 100 and may even stop now. You know how reliable rumots are but this one goes that our COO J.B. setup this furlough all by himself without consulting the big daddy J.O.. About a week maybe after the first wave of furloughs our COO J.B. was suddenly and without warning terminated. The last part is fact, he was let go real suddenly. The rest is supposition as to why. Maybe J.O. hired someone straight out of exec school who had an "airline management simulator course" that agreed to work for half the money? ![]() We'll see what happens. I expected to hear something more but I haven't.

Tough to see one of the good guys hitting the street. You'll land alright though. June 11th, not much notice though, damn.
