On the combined list, I'd be on the unemployed side of the line. As of now, the lists aren't combined, and this was addressed to only Atlas.

Even if all 80 go, and I'm one of them, I should only be out until Boeing makes the first -8. (Each 2 pilot airplane ~ 30 pilots).

If all the furloughs are done prior to combining the seniority lists, I should be safe as there was a no bump/no flush in the award.

However, I still don't discount CFIing at a school near you....(If I can even land a gig....)

The chips will fall where they may.

I have heeded the advice of those that are alot smarter than me and found themselves in some bad places *cough*Zap*cough*. I think I have done things correctly.

Hopefully, I won't have to test my "furlough" plan. If I do, I'll take a clean sheet and see what direction life takes me. It might be to a holding pattern to come back, it might be on a new path in aviation, or it might hold something else in the cards. No matter the outcome, I've had some great experiences thus far, and expect more great experiences in the future.

Thanks for the well wishes. Now, its up to the political stuff that's out of my hands.....

Update:

Atlas shows 67 pilot and 14 FE furloughs on the displacement bid. Starting on 30 JAN all the way through 30 JUN for the effective dates.

Sucks...

TSA Update:

6 more got the call on Thursday. Funny thing is, the day before the calls went out, the chief pilot specifically said to our recurrent class that no more furloughs or downgrades were expected. I think the effective date for them is sometime in March or early April.

Sounds like there will be more furloughs on top of the 6 additional at TSA. The rumor is that we will be down to 27 airplanes when all is said and done. My theory while I was at TSA was that the airline would no longer exist in two years. Looks like I may have been right but I hope not.

Comair update: 92 more hit the street on the 19th. Depending on who the early out/early retirment buyouts go, more displacements and furloughs to come. We're officially going down to 100 or less aircraft by the end of the year!

US Airways

We currently have 184 pilots on furlough, with the final 75 additional furloughs coming soon. The East will be furloughing an additional 14 pilots on Feb 4th, 15 pilots on March 4th and the final 8 pilots on April 4th. The Company has not given any further dates for West furloughs except that no pilots will be furloughed in February 2009 and the remaining 38 pilots will be furloughed sometime in March and/or April.

Wow, I just can't believe all of this mess. Sorry to all who have been affected. I sit 30 from the bottom at XJ so I'm quite afraid of the possibility. Fingers crossed.

Recalling 6. Know how many notices they sent out to get the 6?

6 were called 5 came back, it was the first 6 IIRC, I don't think anyone bypassed, but I'd have to dig deep to find that and I'm feeling kinda lazy.

There was one captain who took a voluntary furlough back in September with a very high seniority number, and is coming back as an FO.

Another voluntary furlough bypassed the recall.

The 4 involuntarily furloughed pilots coming back are from the top of the list of 64 furloughed, 1 through 4.

Edit: 4 more pilots to be recalled in new vacancy notice posted tonight to be staffed April 1st.

AirTran has now sent recall letter to all 169 furloughed pilots. Possibly one or two classes of newhires this summer.

Glad you mentioned this. Not too sure what my friend plans on doing, but he did tell me yesterday he received a notice a few days ago. Unfortunately or fortunately he is under a contract at a new company for a year.

Either way, new classes this summer would sure be nice.

Just as a, um, hint, there, Todd. I'm gonna be at 500 TPIC by the end of the month.

Dude, trust me, you'll never get hired if my name is on your recommendation letter. The management types don't like us union leaders very much around here.

How many were furloughed again from AWAC? When did the furlough begin?

Knew AWAC furloughed, but for some reason I don't have any data in my spreadsheet for the company.

Good news though, glad to see guys getting back to work.
