Anyone going to go for it? Is this still normal for PSA to offer these kind of leaves with this type of reasoning? Im shooting for the next three mos. off....

I'm just going to say this once because of all the PMs I'm going to get about this down the road... PSA has 570 pilots. PSA is supposed to have 520 pilots. There are 60 guys waiting to go to Mainline. So, if those 60 guys were actually going there'd be a shortage of 10 guys (and the two classes that got canceled would be needed). That's why there are LOAs through September. People... PLEASE stop with the whole "the sky is falling" stuff. |

Bob, I understand what your saying, but how many of those guys have gone to mainline? Cost is up, flying is down....You have to be realistic about this industry, with cost up as high as it is, you cant keep the status quo....I suspect there will be some cuts....How many no one knows...I just hope I get the summer off...But point taken.

2 have gone to mainline so far. Might there be cuts down the road? Maybe. Everybody else seems to be doing it. If they don't get enough people to take LOAs or they do park airplanes, then yes, it is very likely that a lot of the junior guys are going to be on the street. But as things stand right now, the LOAs are due to being overstaffed, NOT due to service drawn downs. |

You can check your CoEmail for clarification on what you do, and don't get when on an LOA.

Yea, in the CoMail, it basically states, "take it and you don't get anything." I really hope enough senior guys bite.

It's very interesting... they changed the terms of the LOAs after people put in for them.

| Yes. It's basically a voluntary furlough. I guess it works for those with side businesses.

It also works for those of us who can afford not to work for the summer!! I personally hope that not enough people above me bit and I get it. To be honest its kind of ridiculous that its not done on a first come first serve basis. Your basically saying to PSA, "Hey, Ill help you out and take off for the summer so you dont have to shell out cash for me in a tight situation" and they're making it seem like there doing you a favor by awarding a furlough to you...C'mon. Also, why would you expect to get anything from an unpaid leave of absence....? Most people should know that when you take a LOA(Unpaid) your basically giving up your privilege to everything except for your "STATUS" as an employee...However, I could be missing something if they gave all the bennies in the past when someone took a LOA....

This is an airline. Everything runs based of of seniority. It's pretty much all we have left. You weren't here for the AWA-AAA merger, but that was a good demonstration of how a messed up it can be when one place uses seniority for everything (in this case, non rev benefits) and the other place uses first come first serve. |

Bob, Out of curiosity, do you know how many LOAs there gonna grant and when we should here? Ive tried to call scheduling and they dont seem to know. I know they said in by the 15th, but you'd think they would know before then...Im thinking of bidding round two to maybe help my chances?

Nope, I haven't heard anything. Even the CPs are being kept out of the loop on this as they didn't have any answers last I checked either.
