Default Mesaba: "We suggest that you maintain your current position"

"Dear First Officer Candidate,

Recently you have been selected as a First Officer with Mesaba Airlines and are currently awaiting a class date. Due to the state of the industry, class sizes and dates are being reevaluated. When line positions become available and classes are scheduled you will be contacted and assigned a class.

Because of the relative uncertainty of our industry during these turbulent times, we suggest that you maintain your current position and lifestyle until we contact you to confirm your final class date.

We appreciate your understanding and we hope to see you on board in the very near future."

Sorry man. . .but I think it's for the best. Do as much saving as one could do now.

I just got the same letter today. I interviewed back in late Feb, hired in March and originally given June 2 class date. This is not a surprise, though it is disappointing. bhh1128, when did you get hired and did you have a class date? Best of luck to all.

Rob

Well it wasn't exactly unexpected, and the timing is fine for me, as I have other plans ready anyway.

I just posted for the sake of a better informed JC. I interviewed April 8, was originally told June 30 CRJ-900, then July 21 CRJ-200, then this. In the meanwhile I had heard another who interviewed the same time being told August 18th.

Look on the bright side, you can instruct and hoard more cash....you'll need it trying to live on FO pay, especially if upgrade time goes up.

I had an August 18th class date, and received the letter today as well.

Wow...

I know they were filling June class dates when I interviewed in February. Kinda glad now that I got the letter rather than the phone call after my interview. I guess everything works out for the best sometimes.

Sorry to hear about those that have gotten the most recent letter. Just one more sign of the times...

I got the same basic letter from Piedmont earlier this week. Buckle up this is going to be interesting.

To clarify the issue at Mesaba:

We are way fat on Saab FO's, so they are releasing seat locks to allow those who want to, to bid over to 900 FO. They are expecting enough FO's to bid the 900 to fill the next few classes.

We are as of now still taking delivery of 900s and getting the 200s from Pinnacle.

And I'm not sure how getting rejected is better than getting a job offer... maybe I'm the weird one.
