Does anybody have any suggestion or know of any kind of chart protectors for the expandable jeppesen charts? (some airport diagrams and departure/arrivals) i have been looking all over the internet for chart protectors and none of them can hold the expandable charts and those are the ones that always seem to get torn, at least for me. even if it was just a protector that opened from the opposite side of the rings i could unfold the extension when using it and fold it back inside the plastic when in the binder. i'm questioning whether or not this will be possible with this one. http://www.mypilotstore.com/mypilotstore/sep/2424 does anybody use these protectors that can let me know if this will work. or better yet, does anybody have a better suggestion?!?!

Go to micjeals or target or whatver rafts store is near by, get the Vynel clear plastic laminate.. sticky on one side.. cut it to size and stick it on. Much easier to deal with, and 1 roll does like 2 billion charts. Or... when it gets torn, just call tech pubs

I've always just used chart protectors that have openings on both sides for those and fold the fold out portion out and over. Haven't had to replace a fold out yet.

for anybody else out there looking for chart protectors, i bought the ones listed in the link above as well as some from aerovision. the idea was that the aerovision ones would be the best but wouldnt fit the expandable charts so that's why i got the other ones too...turns out the aerovision charts will actually work better for expandable charts than the ones in the link above. overall, the aerovision charts are the best and most convenient, they are quick release so you dont have to open the rings in your binder every time, and will work best across the board for charts. here is the link for them and this is the cheapest site i could find them on. http://www.marvgolden.com/jeppesen/quickrelease.htm |

I took the hub airports out, copied them, then laminated them. Just bind them together with a ring in the top right corner. Works great.

If you are lucky enough to fly a 145 just get a crew aid holder and you will never have to take your charts out of the binder again. Best 15 bucks I ever spent. I have also seen guys make them from stuff you could buy at home depot. http://www.crewaid.com/gadjets.htm If you aren't flying one or you need it for something else then just use the normal chart protector and fold the expandable part over the top.
