What I said in the other thread was, I flew with a guy where I work that would check for a noose every time we got in a different airplane. The company had to sent out a message last year saying stop screwing around with emergency equipment and I think they were referring to the noose thing.

| The noose for many = racial tension/struggle/memories. This wasn't racial, but very poor taste to get the point across. |

| Old Skool | Um. . . I haven't clicked this specific link, but have followed a link from elsewhere that indicated that the doll was stated to have uSAPa written all over it. Can't say I blame the person for doing such. |

| Exactly! To say a noose is a sign of racial hate is rediculous. Every culture for 5-600+ years has been using nooses. Sadam Hussien was hung by a.....Any one....Any One.......Nooo......Any one.....Noooo....Any one....Noose. If it was a black doll or a buring cross then there might be some merit to that, but seriously people come on put the race card back in the deck. Oh, thats right the media needs to start crap to sell news.

| apparently finding nooses isn't all that uncommon, with the intent that if you ever get to the point where you have to use the escape hatch/rope you should probably hang yourself anyway... |

| I agree, and I'm a blonde-haired, blue-eyed WASP. A noose represents a symbol of a shameful time in our country's history to many people. Honestly, whenever I see a noose, that is the association that automatically pops into my mind. |

| Moderator | Interesting. When I see a noose I don't think of anything "racial". I think "execution". In my hometown in the 1800s executions via hanging were common, and there's even a few folk-lore stories of ghosts of people who'd been hanged returning to haunt the town. So my first thought when I see or hear noose is of those stories.

| It's obviously not racially intended. The media just has to make everything a story out of nothing. I'm not a racist, but you ever notice that they always send black reporters to cover things like this. Isn't that some sort of racism? Why can't someone like Trisha Takanawa get the scoop? I hope no one takes this the wrong way. I'll reiterate that I'm not racist. Just making an observation. On a side note... where is lambert field? |
