| How hard is it to commute from KISP? I’m still working on building my hours but down the road I want to apply to carriers that have bases in NYC or if I had to commute I could leave from KISP. Living out on the island I would rather commute from ISP instead of driving to LGA or JFK. It looks like there are plenty of direct flights to PHL, BOS, BWI, any other places that I can’t think of that have domiciles? |

| Old Skool | MCO, MDW.....but we're talking SWA. Not sure how much traffic ISP brings in from the other carriers. I know SWA does a lot of flying in and out of there.

| It depends on what airlines you get on with. If you get on Piedmont, you should have no problem - LGA base ![]()

I grew up just a few minutes from ISP, still have family up there too. Delta recently canceled service as of May 1st so that kind of stinks. Your pretty much limited with the places you jsut said. Believe it or not LGA really isn't that bad, as long as you do it at the right times of the day. | |

| I used to work in Queens near JFK and would drive 110 miles round trip every day. It's not bad if you drive during off hours, but after a few years I had enough. Driving to JFK/LGA once a week for a trip would be fine but if I'm not with an airline that has a base there I don't know where I would park. I think the employee parking is only for flight crews based there, maybe someone knows more about that? I don't really like the LIRR, it takes longer then driving, it's more expensive then driving, and I don't want to leave my car in an LIRR parking lot for several days. Getting Piedmont, Eagle or Comair at the NYC bases would be my first choice but I'm trying to keep my options open just in case I couldn't get one of those. |

| Goodspeed, I definately feel for you. I live in Patchogue and commute to EWR. It's not horrible since I generally hold 3/4 day trips and usually start early morning. Boston didn't used to be that bad when BSY was running there 3 times a day, I'm not sure if anyone has picked up that route. I've J/S a few times to BWI on SWA and that's very easy. They also have about 7 trips a day, so I would recommend BWI as a base if at all possible. Just don't look at Colgan's BWI base, because that's all day trips. Good luck to you, I'll probably see you on the LIE going about 5 mph. ![]() |
