So I was just talking with the owner of the boobie bungalow, and he brought up a good point; don't pilots get cash money from the government to further your education if you get furloughed? I could have sworn I heard about guys getting education grants from the government to get type ratings and the like. Does anybody have any info on this? |

Yeah, like Merit said, it differs from state to state. I think if I were to get furloughed Mississippi would give me money, but Texas or Florida wouldn't. Something like that. It's been a while since I looked. Maybe I should look again, just in case.

It depends on the state and the individual circumstance. Our buddy Mark who was in Bill's TWA class got furloughed from AA. He was a MO resident at the time, and he had a job offer contingent upon getting a Citation type rating. He was able to get his type rating paid for through this act and because of his state of residence and job offer. I'm not sure of all the specifics.
