| Are you kidding? Or are you a Skywest pilot? A list integration would be the best thing to ever happen to the regional piloting profession. It would mean an end to the biggest non-union airline in regional history.

It's OK. Business is business. We just got rolled by our own. Seriously, what's scope worth anyway?

| It's worth everything if you have the balls to hold on to it.

| Old Skool | If you all purchase xjet and therefore want them that badly. A pilot list should indeed be merged and both SKW and XJET guys should be let go if you all indeed cannot make it work with the number of pilots in both groups. Then again this is how it SHOULD work we all know it will not happen that away.

No, I am not Skywest, yes I am ALPA, but I don't agree with forcing a list integration with a pilot group that clearly does not want it. US Airways comes to mind....

Why should skywest guys be punished? Our airline isn't going down the tubes. Also why not ASA they are also owned by Skywest so why single out skywest? Is it because we didn't make the mistake of voting in Alpa. Fact is Xjt is done either way, and skywest pilots shouldn't be punished because we didn't choose a bad airline.

As far as whether the Skywest pilots want a union, I really don't care. They continue to leech off of the results that hard work and dues revenue brings to the profession without joining the cause. If they need to be forced into joining, then fine. One way or another, the non-union monster needs to be slain.

So if list integration and furloughs are the price of the purchase, then I say no deal.

| No deal? Skywest pilots don't exactly get a say. They get whatever the mormon masters tell them they'll get. Jerry will make whatever deal is in his own best interest, regardless of what it will do to any employee groups. With no contract to hold him to anything, he can and will do whatever he pleases.

What worries me the most is that if I read the email right Skywest has negotiated to fly on their own for CAL along side the 205 expressjet airplanes. What does this open the door for? Skywest flying 70 and 90 seaters? What does the new CPA say about the 205 ERJs? Are they "releasable" 50 at a time every 2 years? Does skywest get the concessions they want from the xjet pilots just to have "CAL" almost immediately release 50 of expressjet's planes (and another 500 pilots) to the desert anyways under the new CPA, then the skywest pilots step in at their lower wages and benefits? And then the obvious scope problems...If expressjet's 205 airplanes and crews are not protected Skywest could easily never recall an expressjet pilot and just let their non-union "informed" pilots take over the CAL flying one airplane at a time as attrition slowly reduces the remaining xjet pilot list (or furlough 80 xjet pilots a month as skywest trains new "informed" pilots). A few years from now Skywest has all of expressjet's 205 ERJs being flown by Skywest crews and all X hundred xjet pilots are never recalled. In any case skywest is going to use the two pilot groups against each other at CAL, that's a given and obviously what is being set up in the new CPA. But hopefully we'll hang on to the scope so that at least there might be an expressjet to get recalled to.

I agree that you should not suffer as a result of a merger. But you kicking them while they are down and seeming to be gleeful about their demise is disgusting. I hope you are very comfortable at SKW for the long haul because that attitude will keep you there for a long time.

This is just an observation and in no way is meant to be an insult to anyone: We all know that this industry has it's ups and downs, but to see it go from such a high (from a hiring prespective) to such a huge low and still sinking in such a short amount of time is truly amazing. ExpressJet being on of the premier regionals to work for to it now appearing to be a slowly sinking ship just amazes me. My best friend works there and is 500 from the bottom of the list, he is quite worried to say the least. |
