According to Piedmont, we're not getting the Q400s or ATR 72s to replace our aging Dash 8 100 and 300 fleet anymore. Apparently due to "the number of 50 seat RJs they're locked into." This is going to get interesting. I hope we can do something quick to curb these high fuel prices - ie, put more Q400s on more RJ routes. Heck, even PSA should have them.

US Airways - "Making promises we can't keep for 30 years and counting!" Piedmont - "Flying Yesterday's Airplanes into Tomorrow!" Please remember in 1999, US paid a consulting company $2 million (yes they bragged about the amount) for a study to find the following (....and no I'm not joking) "95% of the flights that depart on-time, arrive on-time". I wish Gangwal (however his name was spelled) would have let me bid. I would have done the same study for only $1.5 mil. What a savings. At least the DASH is a solid plane. The -8 woulda been cool to fly, but I woulda been up on the -7. That's a beast. One thing I've learned in my short time in this industry, the only planes that are important to me are the ones that get more people behind me on the list, increase my W2 and let me be home more. Have fun out there, and...Rock on with your bad selves.... ![]() ![]()

Its not a money thing to buy the airplane, although the capital costs are quite high. The only way that bigger props would come online would be if jets are parked. Ah the joys of scope.

Hedgefund + emerging market (tprops) = opportunity to make mad money. Ref CHQ 1999 Hedgefund = Wexford Capital Emerging Market = 50 seat no-selling Embraers Wexford buys 45 orders and 45 options for a need they saw in the future. Then they bought CHQ. Then they bought a leasing company to sell jets to. Then they brought down Bedford. Wexford buys the jets. Sells the jets to SolitarKaptial (All the ERJ "SK" tail numbers) for I'm sure a small profit. Wexford's subsidiary (Solitar Kapital) leases jets to CHQ. Then they had an IPO and made a gazillion, fafillion dollars.... I shoulda studied running a hedge fund owning in college...
