Isn't Canada a whole different ballgame? I think I heard something that made the payrates make sense. Excessive taxes or health insurance or something like that...

Ya'll know the EMB-190 is a 114 seat jet, right?

I thought it was a 94 seater, but it can hold up to 114 seats. The EMB-195 can do 122 seats.

That's a 737, ya'll.

It's a different ballgame in the sense that it's a different country. People didn't cite their pay scale as much a year or two ago because the US dollar was usually about 20% more valuable than it's Canadian par. Nowadays with the devaluation of the US Dollar that seems impressive.

Yes they are taxed higher than we are, but then again they don't have medical taken out of their paychecks.

But yes, they are paid significantly better than any regional here in the states.

And just from my own observations while transiting YOW/YQB/YHZ/YYZ/ and the rest, they seem to be a slightly older group than their equivalent regional carriers in the states. It is a job they intend to stick around in rather than having aspirations to leave for Air Canada.

Also..Jazz pilots are represented by ALPA>

Higher taxes and I posted them before on this forum (they aren't actually that much higher then ours). When you factor in what we pay for health insurance and our now weaker dollar, the Canadian system is much better IMO. I pretty much already live in Canada, but do plan on officially moving here in the near future. It sure is a whole different ballgame. In Canada people are overall more friendly, considerate, and more open minded then in the States. It is a noticeable difference. For those interested in a good quality of life, Canada can be a great place.

I also heard its quite difficult to get onto Jazz. And if you do its a Horizon-like career killer with the upgrade times. Air Canada looks like a sweet deal though.

Yeah, but the t.v. sucks there. There is so much Corner Gas one guy can take.
