I think that PDT in concert with mainline is just playing a waiting game to see how cheap they can find someone to operate the LTP for them. It's inevitable that the fleet will be updated and flying a large turboprop. Just who is going to be flying it, and for what price is the open question.

There are two theory branches here. The first is with out a merger with UAL. The second is with a merger with UAL. Personally, for all kinds of reasons I like the branch that doesn't involve the merger. That one has (eventually) more/new airplanes for PDT and PSA, maybe a west base (assuming REP or Skywest doesn't snap it up) and eventual (hahah) flow through. A merger with UAL pretty much ends with the sale (not happening) or liquidation (probable) of PSA and PDT.

And yes I have sources, and no that doesn't mean anything really.

That's if UAL remains the controlling entity, which...it won't. An Airways merger with UAL would leave Doug Parker and AW at the helm, otherwise we won't merge. Parker does not favor contract carriers like UAL does....but if such a merger went down....who knows.

But if it went like you say, many of the pilots and f/a's would be absorbed into the UAL system. So that could be good for the flight crews in the long run.

The UAL AFA contract requires that all aircraft owned by the airline are flown by FAs on the UAL list. Of course, a merger TA would have to be worked out anyways, but their contract would hold until such time. It would be nice if they either a) get rid of that clause or b) just put all the PSA and PDT FAs on their list. But in reality... who knows. I do agree that Parker won't go into a merger unless he remains in charge.

My concern as a PDT pilot: We merge with UAL, we keep our planes but merge with PSA. PSA dumps a number of 50 seat RJ's (lots of pilots on the street) and Colgan ends up flying the Q's. I know to expect nothing but BS to come out of Management's mouth but a year ago chuck colgan told me that all of their future growth would be in the 400 and it would be with United. His words are now coming into my head more than ever. I must say that I have nothing against colgan pilots, but if they were to pick up Dash 8 flying for USAirwaysUnited, I'll probably feel much differently.
