Default Mesa watch!

Today begins the third week of Mesa's stock being below $1.

This thread is dedicated to those who want to watch the excitement that will be either Mesa strengthening, or well. . .for the lack of a better word - death.

Open price for this morning is at .46 cents off of a 52 week low of .44 cents.

Let the discussion, debate, and viewing begin.

The only thing that let's me sleep at night is knowing that, no matter what, those routes we do serve will HAVE to be serviced.... by someone!

Let's say, Mesa does tank. Then another regional might step in. They might bring in their own planes.... or buy ours, either way, they'll need people to work thoses flights. At least rampers anyways.

I have much ill-placed faith in Big J.O. He's pull Mesa out of the crapper years ago, I hope/pray/wish he'll do it again. That being said, the logic in me says otherwise. Maybe I'll go to China and work for our newest venture, KunPeng Air.

Either way, working for Mesa has been the pride of my life. No selling, no customers, no quotas.... Just good, honest hard work. Bring it in, turn it, push it out...repeat!

I check the stock after each plane I push out. I've been depressed the past 3 weeks..... I need a drink.

MESA PRIDE!!!!!

Josh, This is one of the most classless thread starters that this forum has ever seen.

Remember how your mother used to say "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it"? I don't want to be your mother, but ask yourself is this really benefiting this site by posting it.

Don't you think this is a little bit cruel to do considering there are a LOT of people who are going to lose their jobs if Mesa goes under? I know I wouldn't want someone sitting around cheering for my company to tank.

I think I'm going to start a "Watch ASA" thread. Can't wait till something bad happens over there. I hope you lose your job.

Come on man. That's exactly what you're saying in this post to me and many others on here who just happen to work at Mesa.

These are the same people who work for sub-standard wages, with little to no work rules, and bring the industry down. They cost other pilots in this profession their jobs, QOL, etc. and not just people who choose to work for them. Mesa has lowballed the entire industry significantly impacting other carriers. AWAC, PSA, ACA, etc. Mesa offers a horrible product, and does not treat people like people. I am hoping for Mesa to go out of business and in turn their routes will go to regional carriers who deserve to be flying them.

I'd just say every time another airline folds, there will be consequences. In addition to the loss of aviation jobs, there are now going to be lots of out of work pilots competing with YOU for the few remaining positions.

As much as I hate any company or organization, I'd never wish financial failure on anyone. You think the CEO or management who screwed the airline are going to get hurt by this? No way. The ones who are going to be hurt are the men and women who do all the work and generally have very little choice in the decisions their management make for them.

As far as the attitude, I'll refer you to this post.

That is all.

Low stock prices are not that big a deal in terms of operational viability - the price of a stock is only one factor indicating a company's health relative to other companies in the same market.

Investors only take a loss if they sell the stock at a low price, remember. It just means that people aren't willing to pay a lot for the stock right now. That's about it.

WOW Josh, I'm really disappointed that you or anyone would start up a thread like this.

I guess you decided it didn't matter what others thought.....

Word.

I'll tell a good story about negative karma in the airline business in a couple of weeks. It doesn't directly involve me but I have a front row seat watching it all go down.

Perhaps those on the "I Can't Wait For MAG To Go Under" bandwagon should clarify it's a hatred of MAG management, not MAG employees. That is what it should be, anyway.

Those who think this will just blow over should note that Ornstein and his cronies have not been buying stock to prop up the price like they always have in the past. That's not a good sign.

Mesa pilots are scheduled to enter contract negotiations, if they haven't already. So, they would get their opportunity to punch the nay-sayers square in the face. The guys that signed the sub-par contract are LONG gone from that airline. If there are any left, they've probably changed their tune by now when they realized "1000 TPIC and out" might not have been realistic. Wishing harm on a pilot group that had nothing to do with their current CBA is just bad form.

Unfortunately, I think JO will fold the airline before he gives into pilot demands. This might be his chance to pull the ripcord on a golden parachute and watch the ship go down in flames.

Actually a large percentage of those who voted yes on the last contract are still there. As someone who voted yes but has moved on, I can assure you that SJS had very little to do with it.

My opinion is if there is too much regional feed, if there is not a market to support the number of RJs currently out there, and if this has to happen to someone, I would prefer it happen to Mesa. My thoughts go out to the thousands of people being screwed by their management's bad decisions though.

True, I guess the threat of having your job moved to an alter-ego carrier would put different slant on things.

Like you mentioned before, I think most of the hatred is towards management and not the pilots.

Correct, that didn't help. With hindsight being 20/20, I'm not saying that we did the right thing. We did what we felt was the right thing, based on what we knew. Management was spinning everything like mad. Our own union leaders were withholding information from us (we didn't know it at the time). Knowing about the status (or the existence of) the single-carrier lawsuit could have changed things in a huge way.

Let's hope the current crop of MAGgers can do something good for us all.

So many people to quote. . .

But I won't.

This thread was not intended to be a low blow towards the MAG pilots. It was to be an active thread following the stock price from down, up, down again, up, etc. to whatever future is seen.

Opinions have already been made, so not going to bother trying to change any.

On that note, Mesa is at .52 cents, a strong 9.68% raise so far today.

The title was sensationalistic...but the topic is one worth watching. If MAG goes away, I think it would have a major impact on the whole Regional industry. I think it is possible to watch and comment on these events without getting into flame-wars though. It is an interesting business story - will the low stock price trigger de-listing? Will the lack of market cap trigger any problems with debt repayment (accelerate payments on bond issues, or notes)?

I feel bad for those stuck at Mesa and wish them the best. Hope eveything works out for you guys.
