Default Serving the PAX Kool Aid

[begin rant]

Ok, I was traveling today on a 'regional' due to some family business. It was on the E180 series of aircraft and while waiting for them to fix the computer, for the first time, I took out the information card that explains the 'benefits' of the E180 series of aircraft.

It is absolutely disgusting the kool aid they wrote down on the sheet for the pax to read. Pretty unprofessional actually if you ask me. It sounds like they are preaching to the passengers.

Anyone else notice this? What do you all think?

[/end rant]

The 3minute fix, E180, etc. Some people aren't too fond of certain aircraft, especially when they have to go dark for 3 minutes on an active taxiway in Chicago because their parking brake locked up.

And yes, that's very weird to be convincing Pax why they are on a good airplane.

Sure it's a longer, more difficult name, but there are just so many gosh-darn crews out there it was only a matter of time.

What's up with that? I've heard something about the crew setting the parking brake and suddenly the aircraft thinks its parked at the gate instead of taxi-out.

I love watching the Republic crews in the E--170 that comes to BOI for Frontier. They accidently kill the APU at LEAST once every 2 weeks during pushback. I hear the same thing every time. "Oops, wrong switch." Makes me glad I'm staying on the ground and not flying with those guys sometimes.

Well the overpaid VP of Marketing of said Company missed the fact that it says E-145 down the side of the much larger varient on one of the koolaid cards.

Fair amount of truth in it. I've seen it a few times.

For the most part, the 145 series I've been flying have been pretty reliable.

It was called the E180 when MidTitanic was the launch customer for them because they would taxi off the gate, something would break and they would pull a 180 and go back to the gate.

ver selcal at an outstation:

..ok, so I want you to deselect the backup battery....pull CB's d99, c42, and g55.....Lets wait 30 seconds and put them all back in. Then reselect the backup battery."

_30 seconds later_

..that should do it...have a good flight.

Right after certification it was known at the 180...because it would have to go right back to the gate due to early bugs. Now...it seems to have the kinks worked out.

I've only about 150 hours in the plane now, but yet to have any issues with the plane or any problems due to the computers on board. I "question" the Frontier APU story, but whatever. You'd think if it was "happening" every 2 weeks, we'd hear about it.

At any rate, automation is where all planes are headed and I'm glad I get to fly her.

FWIW the early issues with the EJets were mainly due to Honeywell not properly coding the FBW. If I remember right, during the flight control PBIT, there was a decimal point in the wrong spot.

Then the airplane is on a LAN, so you can't power down one part or another. It was a true pain in the ass.

It was the fact that they had the parameters for the outside influence on the flight controls set too high. You breathed on them, it would fail the PBIT.

And the APU in Frontier I question too. How would that be an oops wrong switch when the apu is over head and the engine start/stop a guarded switch on the center pedestal? Something doesnt jive there.....

LOL yep thats the CRJ. I remember getting selcal messages in those things and talking on ATL Radio. "SELCAL" It would scare the crap out of you.

Thank God we dont have SELCAL on the 170's. ACARS is sooooo much easier.

It wasn't only the touching of the yoke when the Hydraulics are off (seems Honeywell forgot to teach the plane that when it's on the ground with the engine's off and no hyd power, the surfaces don't have to move).

It was also during powerup, switching from GPU to APU power. There was a decimal point moved one place to the short side...

Your story sticks like something from a bull.

The 145 has its quirks as well. Had to reboot it the other day. The ramper pulled to GPU out before we could deselect the switch and it had a conniption fit. APU Fail, YD Fail, and AP Fail all appeared. Weird... Ctrl, Alt, Del and they went away.

Whaaaaaaaa........

You're just jealous your seat back cards don't gloat about the comfortable seats, Quiet and new smelling cabin on the 1900's!

So did you get where you needed to go or what? Leaving PHL today we had an FMS issue. It *LOST* the Aircraft Performance Data Base! Like dude, its mounted IN the airplane, how could it LOSE the database! Anyway, we MEL'd it and left 10 minutes late to arrive 15 minutes early.

I like the Ejet. Its pilot friendly for the most part, comfortable and quiet. I hear the bugs need working out here and there though.
