| Old Skool | CNN just reported Alitalia will be out of business by the first of June if they don't get "additional resources." Air France is said to be negotiating a buyout. You gotta love the airline business.

| Old Skool | I thought the government was stepping in to prevent them going out of business, or is this just until they can find a buyer?

| Not that it relates to fuel, but everyone that I know who has ever flown on Alitalia said it was a miserable experience. I don't know what that means but it wouldn't help the fuel cost situation.

| the one thing the european carriers are doing that we are not is adding a fuel surcharge to every ticket in response to fluctuating fuel prices. The surcharge is printed right on the ticket. People aren't happy about it, but they pay it. U.S. carriers would rather lower tickets prices and lose money while waiting for the competition to run out of cash and file BK. THis is a stupid industry, lol

| I flew Alitalia to Italy a few years back and can say that it wasn't a great experience. I tacked it up to the FAs being on the back side of the clock but come on. We took off from JFK and got our food and drink and that was it for the rest of the flight. They all sat back in the galleys sleeping. And their 777 didn't have the gasper vents above the seats and it felt like it was 90 degrees inside. Flew back on Delta and it was a much much better experience.
