Default Piedmont

My friend just sent a resume to Piedmont. He emailed one of the HR guys as a follow up and the reply was something along the lines of:

Quote:
You should have stayed at Delaware State, we are focusing on Aviation Degrees
That was it, that's all they said. The guy did not even put his name at the end of the email. He has a four year degree, just not in aviation. His major was Aviation at Del State, but transfered out to a better college, I did the same. Times are 500/100me with 50 turbine. I thought that was pretty interesting.

That's all,

Alex.

Well, how long ago did your friend sent the resume? Also try to follow up on the phone also.

I'm not sure, maybe two weeks ago. He's been following the advice of a current Piedmont F/O. I don't know anything about getting hired at an airline, so I haven't been much help to him.

That's interesting considering they offered my buddy an interview with no degree the day after he took his multi checkride. Times were in the mid 400s. TT/100 multi.

Is it just me or does this not add up in the slightest...?

Interesting they would prefer an aviation degree though... strange actually

An aviation degree keeps the pilot group hungry. With that degree the opportunities outside of aviation can be limited. Maybe they figure if they get enough people locked into flying, the pilots will be more yielding when everyone gets to the bargaining table.

Is Piedmont associated with any of those "guaranteed interview" getups?

I was told by many that once I submitted my resume, Piedmont would call within a couple of days...I guess they've got a ton of apps?!?

Times were 590/52 when I applied a month and a half ago....tried to follow up and never got back a response last week.

Man oh man. I got offered a job in the SBY terminal one day getting lunch. The gentleman asked me if that was my ride on the ramp and I said yes and before I shut my mouth he offered me a class.
Sounds like someone is playing a joke or got into someones email account and is having their way with it.

There are people that have gotten hired in the last six months with 300 TT an less than 25 ME, no degree. Does not add up for some reason to me.

Ya... how on earth did it take 100 hours multi to get the multi addon? I got Single/Multi-Comm Instrument, CFI done in 300/25 (and even then the 25 is more than it takes most, I just did 141 that required it)

*Edit - correction, let met guess ATP? that would be a possibility I think? but even then 400 TT is a little high... either way who cares, just wondered the validity of your friend getting hired "the day after his ride" when he ad 100 multi... no worries

They do it before they get the certificate... so they cant log PIC? Sounds logical to me...

Or they get their private multi and then log it as PIC while time building to get their commercial.

Going to ATP isn't a requirement for logging lots of multi-time. Yeah, that's the 'big box' way to do it.....but many other schools/ fbo's can accomplish the same results.

Ok guys, you got me, its normal to have 100 multi hours after you take your multi-comm ride...

Enough already, glad he got called, congratulations...fantastic, whatever.

Moving On!

(Back to the origonal topic of the thread... Piedmont is longing for aviation degrees)

Hey guys, first post here. Anyway, took a look at the Piedmont website. Under the First Officer position it says "Preference will be given to college graduates with aviation degrees and those applicants
currently employed in a pilot position."

It does not really explain the email, but they do say they will give preference to those who do have aviation degrees.

I applied to Piedmont too and never heard back from anything at all and I have way past what their minimums were. I thought it was pretty weird to be honest.

Not unusual. I never heard for Colgan, and I was 300TT past their mins. I didn't hear from Eagle until about a year later, and by that time I was already off reserve at Pinnacle.

Maybe the pilot had a private multi, therefore allowing him to log the multi as PIC prior to his Comm-Multi Checkride.

I know, I know...if it wasn't attached...

Yup. I never heard from Air Wisconsin, PSA, or Colgan and I applied well after I had their mins (okay, at Colgan, I applied once BEFORE I had their mins, and again afterwards ). In fact, with PSA - I applied four times well after I had their mins and NADDA.

Then in one week, Eagle and ExpressJet came a-knockin'.

Weird industry...this.
