Is that 7:55 of block time? I don't know how you do it, man. I'd be hanging myself from that crew bunk after about hour 5. Never leaving the eastern time zone is fine with me.

Yeah, a buddy of mine on the 777 complains about that trip constantly. He's a reserve CA, so he gets stuck with that all the time. He bid back to the ER on the last AE, so I think he's just waiting for a training date now. He just couldn't take anymore of the Mumbai, Dubai, and Tel Aviv flying.

Oh, it's actually less work that I was doing on the mad dog.

Figure on an 8 hour flight, you may have 5-ish hours in the cockpit total. Might be split up too depending if you're CA, FO, relief FO and if you're flying pilot, non-flying pilot or relief. Most of that is usually eating, talking trash about the Jet Airways guys that clog up 123.45 with tales of lore or "other".

Plus, the same 8 hours of flight time domestically is what, 5 or 6 legs followed by a whopping 10 to 11 hour layover? Oh yeah, I'm all over that... NOT!

I jumpsat on a Delta 757 with a crew that normally does international only on the ER. The FO said he flew for 3 years on the Mad dog but it felt like 10. Something about the gauges being sprayed all over the place. They picked up the domestic 757 trip for the 33 layover in Reno. They had 3 legs after the layover and the RDU-ATL flight I was on wit em was delayed massively because of weather in ATL. When we eventually got to ATL we had to wait 30 mins for a gate to open up. They both missed their flights home. They both said repeatedly through the flight that they will NEVER bid domestic again, even for a 33 hr Reno layover.

Man, you guys are working your domestic NB guys way too hard. I rarely fly more than 3 legs and usually have 15-20 hour layovers. Did your MD guys work that much before BK, or is that post-BK BS?

Mad dog has always been a workhorse.

It's a lot better out west if you can avoid hitting CVG or ATL, but once you start the shuttle, it'll make you want to gouge your eyes out.

I know the Continental 737 flying can be a blast. LOTS of variety. My cousin's on reserve and he has overnighted in San Juan, St. Maartin, Panama City, Panama, etc. Just all over the place. And I heard the 737 is pretty easy to learn, especially the NGs

You shouldn't be on reserve too long on it either. . .if at all. You'll be nearing a year of service when you get out of the school house right?

Most of my time is spent either eating, sleeping, or generally wandering around the airplane at least once an hour. Of course this is a freighter so it is like our own personal motor coach.

Done with what? Flying a real airplane, not one of those replacement jets?
