Great!! I just lost my job at Skyway and I have decided to come to PSA. I'm just wondering how you like it there?? Is it true that you will be getting the CRJ900's?

Not true (as of today). I start IOE on monday so as far as the QOL goes, I will get back to you on that. The training department, however, is great!

David, I'm sorry to hear about things at Skyway. We're happy to be able to help out. There are no 900's for now. Right now we're just barely able to staff our current fleet. This thread: http://forums.jetcareers.com/general...here-of-2.html is still pretty accurate as far as QOL and training here. Upgrade is down to about 15 months right now. Shoot me a PM if you have any more questions.

| I was going to apply to Skyway and then found out 3 days ago that all of the pilots are losing their jobs. I am sorry this happened to you. But I have a couple of friends at PSA and they love it there. Majority of the folks seem happy.

There are about 3 or 4 SkywayedX-ers starting on the 17th. Rules of the industry: 1) Nowhere is perfect. 2) Expect the worst. If it is that bad, you're not disappointed. If it's better, BONUS! 3) Sempre Gumby -- Always Flexible. |

Now that's about the best attitude I've heard in a long time!!! I'm going to take a July class in order to keep my wife happy and to take a family vacation before I start all over at the bottom again!! A couple more questions if I may.... Any idea what the "optimal" staffing would be and how that would reflect into the schedules? I've also been looking for a route map for PSA only...not having any luck..... I've heard rumors that there is going to be a shortage of upgrade candidates because of the lack of people meeting the ATP mins....???? What city is going as the most Junior base??

![]() Harry Reasoner explained it best. Any news about a severance? If not, you know that seniority is everything in this industry. I took a 2 week "vacation" after my last flights (yes, plural after getting extended at the last minute). Get Skywayed now or on April 5 -- in the end, you get Skywayed (double meaning intended )

Everyone except the pilots are getting a severence. Not much, but at least something.. Midwest's argument is that we've had the benefit of the contract where other's have not.... We are trying to get the company to pay out a full guarantee for April, but I'm sure that'll never happen! I've never felt so sc****d in my life!! I'm going to hang on till the end though. It'll be some time before I see captain pay again! ![]() I have to wait until June for sure. My wife is a school teacher and we just added a six month old baby with a 2 year old at home. She doesn't feel she could handle the pressure of me being gone for the extended time during training with work and kids. Once she's on summer vacation, I'm a free man again. I wish I could start now though. Being back on reserve and not flying is making me CRAZY!! |

WTF! I thought the April thing was settled after they tried to tack it onto the March bid? If MEH/TPG is so stuck on the contract, they pay for April. Is the Landmark "meeting" still on for the 5th? I wanted to stick around, too, but that wasn't in the tea leaves. I have a wife and a 2 y/o. I do not envy her with me going back to training, I cannot begin to imagine your wife's workload with with an infant to boot. Spoil her now. Lots of flowers. ![]() FWIW, I hear OH and TN are the jr bases. At this rate, there could be a Skyway-alumni crash pad in one or both of those bases. The last number I heard was that CLT was 12 months for reserve. Sorry for hijacking the thread. |

You won't find a route map. We change our destinations so much that they'd never keep up. Figure to do mostly less then 300 mile legs. Some days you'll never leave North Carolina. We don't go any farther west then MSP/MCI/XNA/MSY. We used to do some Texas stuff, out of Charlotte, but no more. Also, AWAC handles most of the north east, so you won't be seeing too much of BOS/PVD/MHT/BVT etc. It's not so bad in the winter, but I miss my PWN summer overnights. They keep swearing up and down that they won't need street captains or have to upgrade out of seniority too much. The last number I heard is 10 guys who they project won't meet upgrade mins. Right now the upgrade is down to 15 months, but there are a fair number of guys (20-40) senior to that who have bypassed until they can either hold a line, or hold Charlotte. As a new hire you should be able to get any base you want within a pretty short amount of time. Junior base? Probably TYS, then DAY, then CLT. But it changes pretty regularly.

Bob.... Any idea when the first class of FO's will be? I have ground school scheduled for May 12 but am keeping my fingers crossed that someone bails for another carrier and a spot opens up... I am a little anxious to get into training as I haven't flown since mid-Feb. Thanks.

The most junior base for FO's is DAY, then TYS, and finally CLT. It should take too long to get to CLT for now, once the hiring slows down it will take longer. Right now the November and December hires are being awarded Charlotte. I think we will upgrade out of seniority, plus there are going to be lots of the 300+ hour wonders who don't have the experience to pass upgrade. They might have the ATP mins, but they won't make it through training or pass the type ride.

I think that this is going to show up everywhere with the fast upgrades if they hold out. I am sitting at 1000 hrs and question if I will be ready in 18 months...Who knows I will just wait it out and see! I am just focused on getting through FO school and getting online. Thanks for all the info on here, it sounds like you are all a good group of GUYS/GALS!

I remember back in 2000-2001 when the age 23 requirement was holding a bunch back. Last edited by deadstick; March 15th, 2008 at 18:11. Reason: Quote: Quoted the wrong quote. End quote.

| It could be a while to hold a line in DAY, but with current movement you never know.

| Actually, I just flew with a DAY based FO today and he was hired in August and is just barely holding a hard line.

| Thanks Again...I just got down here to the Dayton Hotel tonight. So far it doesn't seem to bad. They have allot of stuff here for a small hotel. I don't know how long it will last for those who did not drive though. At least I have the ability to get out to other restaurants! I will keep all posted on my findings while I am here.
