Default Mesaba shrinking class sizes?

I interviewed with Mesaba in early January and they gave me a March 10th class date. In the mean time the airline I currently worked at announced they are closing their doors April 5th. Two days later I got a call from Mesaba HR telling me that they are decreasing class sizes and the soonest they can get me into class is sometime in April (won't give me a specific date). Recently I was talking to my ALPA MEC and he told me that my company made a deal with Mesaba where pilots from my current company cannot start at Mesaba until my current company closes its doors. I hope this is not the case because I accepted the job offer from Mesaba before I knew that my company was going out of business. Does anyone know if Mesaba is really decreasing class sizes or did I just get hosed out of a month of seniority?

Default Re: Mesaba shrinking class sizes?

We are only hiring for the 2 jets(200&900) one class of each per month. We are trying to get caught up. There are a ton of people who need oe and consolidation lines and not enough planes to go around. I don't think your # would be affected much(if at all) by that move date. We still need people for the jets, but we are fat on saab drivers. There will still be another 2-300 hired by the time deliveries are all done(sept I believe). If you have an april class there will only be another 30 people in class between now and then.

Any Q's feel free to PM or ask if you think others might want to know as well. All the Skyway pilots I've met are some of the friendliest out there I'd like to help any one that I can.
