Anyone live or have lived in Knoxville, TN? I start ground school with PSA on Jan. 7th and eventually am going to have to pick a domicile. Right now I'd prefer CLT but if reserve and upgrade times take too long, then my next choice would be TYS. I'm 24 and single (well I have a gf, but don't think she'll be moving with me). I love the outdoors (running, hiking, etc) and sports (Gator fan so it might be a little rough living there). Not a big drinker but will go out and social drink anytime. Any input? Thanks!

I grew up just outside of Knoxville and have a lot of friends that went to school there and stayed. It's a pretty cool town for the most part. You'll find any number of things to do in the city and then theres the mountains just minutes away. The city has come a long way towards cleaning itself up and revitalizing the downtown area with trendy bars and restaurants and boutiques. The current mayor just re-elected and he has done wonders for area. He's really done a lot to bring in new business and investments and it shows. Like most towns this size its spreading out and not really building up. To the south its exploding along the I-75 corridor. Housing should be extremely affordable-especially if you're willing to drive 20-30 minutes to get to the airport. We're talking $500 bucks for a house or $350 for a nice apartment downtown. The University of Tennessee is there also with something like 25,000+ students with more than it's fair share of tube-top-wearin'-its 30degrees-get-drunk hotties wanting to show their Big Orange Pride! I think when I get done with this contract I might hit PSA up as I'd love to move back to E.TN. Just some quick highlights. Good luck. |

Two guys from my class took TYS right out of training a few years ago. One just bought a house there and the other is thinking about it. They both love the area. I've actually never been past the airport hotel, but the area looks really nice every time I fly in or out.

What's the difference betwen a 300 pound heifer and a UF cheerleader? About 30 pounds, but if you grain feed the heifer, she'll catch up. Oh yea...................GO VOLS! | |

I was born in Ft. Lauderdale and went to college for 2 years in Jax so I've been a fan for a long time. BTW... Q: How can you tell if it’s a Tennessee airplane when it is snowing? A: Snow chains on the propellers

Why are UT's colors day-glo orange? So their fans can go to the game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday and work on Monday without changing clothes. I'd live in Knoxville in a heartbeat, BTW. It's got fantastic outdoor opportunies, friendly people, decent weather.
