I was wondering on the logistics of jumpseating to/from Canada. My preferred plan would be to go from ORD to YYZ, spend the day with a friend, then on to BOS. I guess my question is what are the additional hoops to jump through, especially jumpseating out of Canada? Any help is appreciated.... |

1)You need a passport and 2)you won't be able to ride in the actual jumpseat.

As stated above, you can't ride up front and you need a passport. If you wear your uniform it makes life a lot easier. It cost me $40 in taxes to jumpseat back from YYZ to JFK which I paid at the ticket counter in YYZ.

Roger that. Our 'uniforms' (I work for the pt 135 side of a 121 carrier) are black carhartts and a button down shirt (well this time of year we wear a little more, but...) so hopefully business casual isn't a problem? Any differences for jumpseating on Air Canada or another Canadian carrier if the need arises?

nvmd about the uniform then, the airline uniform just helps with going through security and such. I don't know who you have jumpseat agreements with. So I don't know if you can jumpseat on air canada. I'm not even sure if I can.

Why can't you ride in the jumpseat? Because it's international?

TSA does not allow you to sit in the jumpseat for international flights.

You can jumpseat on international flights out of the US, just not ones heading to the US.

I've never had a problem jumpseating back into the US (in a cabin seat) with any US Carrier or Air Canada. I don't think other international carriers would allow you to jumpseat though. You'd have to do the ID90/Zed thing. | |

Yeah, talking actual jumpseat. Although when I went back to Japan two septembers ago, I had to non-rev back on United even tho I could jumpseat out. I think it was an issue of augemented crew though and not jumpseat rules...
