777 F/O? Nah, the airplane would be nice, but I don't think he wants to do uber-longhauls. Keepin' my fingers crossed for that 88A ATL.......... His first preference in his bid is actually CVG 88A, but there's no way he'd be able to hold that yet. When I first saw this, my lysdexia kicked in and I thought it said "FO4ever's next kid"! I thought WTF?! Aaack! NOOOOOOOO! Then I looked a little closer........ Whew.

Some of the 777 destination cities aren't high on his want-to-visit list. To each their own, and some folks would LOVE to do that type of flying, it's just not something he wants to do right now. That could change a while down the road, who knows. Currently (and this is speaking before this current bid result is posted) every DL 777 F/O could hold CA on something if they wanted. They're choosing to be an F/O so they can do 777.

I'm sure he knows this, but commuting to reserve is not ideal. Actually, any reserve at Delta is not good. He'll make essentially the same money and have more days off as an ER FO lineholder than a reserve 88 captain. But if the goal is to obtain the left seat...go for it. I can't wait to get it...but won't do it commuting to reserve...and right now it takes 18 years to be the bottom 88 CVG captain.

That would scare the hell out of me too Amber! ![]() I hope he gets what he wants. CVG is affordable as well. You can get a nice house there for a reasonable price....but if you're in Indy, hell you can just stay where you are too! | |

As for commuting on reserve, yeah it's not ideal. But he commuted many years from ORD to CVG on RSV, so at least he's done it before. Even after we moved here to IND, he found himself on RSV a few times (at that time he was right on the cusp of lineholder/reserve). It's a 2 hour drive from driveway to employee lot, so when he got short call he'd have to have his bag packed and be ready to go if they called with a "how fast can you get here" call. Even at 8 years, he knows he'll be working Christmas, he works Thanksgiving (gets done late T-day), if he was in ATL as an 88B, he'd be in the top quarter of bidding! Weekends & holidays off.

Well, after a long chat over a few beers last night, he told me he's going to put in the 777 NYC bid! That was quite a shock to me, I didn't think he'd want to do that, but he said after thinking about it a bit that he wants a change of scenery and something different. Not that it really matters to me what he bids, he's the one that's gonna be flying it. I hope he gets it and I hope he loves it. It's a great airplane! Plus, it'll look cool to have the 777 type on his cert, it'll match nice with the 75/76 type that's already there (courtesy of TWA) .So it looks like the bidding order will be: #1 777 F/O NYC #2 M88 CA ATL So Doug, where is the 777 projected to go out of NYC? I know BOM initially, will that be it for a while?

He'll definitely get the 777. I looked last night and it's going very junior. Yep...Mumbai, initially. If he needs a crashpad, let me know...I know of a few out there.

Yup, so far! He'll get it. One word of caution, if he wants the MD88A over the 777B, I'd switch the bid around. On the 777B, if I'm reading it correctly, and I'm not exactly sure how to interpret, there are only 4 guys senior to me with a first preference, 8 senior with a second preference and 3 senior with a third preference and only 98, 41 and 6 on the 777A. Hell, I'd even throw that in if he's feeling lucky! Ha! Wouldn't that be a hoot.

Should ORD 767 FO be an option? Then you could live in Wisconsin.
