Beckley, WV our newest Saab base. If they're making the move to hub basing, why would they continue to open bases at outstations? And about the ITH base closing, the crews there laughed when they heard it. Dot told them she hasn't heard a word about it...? |

Well I'm not sure about ROC though. The lines here are only 40-52 hours of credit time next month.

Ahhh Colgan has been in BKW and BLF for close to fifteen years Smittey. Like someone else said, not a new outstation.

No, I understand it's been a Beech base. But why open a Saab crew base when we're supposedly going to all hubs? Doesn't make any sense to displace crews for 2-3 months, etc. |

Doesn't make sense for the crews but it makes sense for the company. All HEF ops are moving to IAD in the start of November as we are going to start using the ACA hangar that has sat vacant there. You know it costs $2000 to repo the plane from HEF to IAD? Think that is efficient? Many of the senior Saab guys in CRW actually live closer to BKW. Put them in there for a few months, then they will figure out how to integrate that new hub system when/if they do. Look at the Beech lines out of HYA and ALB. Look at the amount of deadheads we have next month. Think that is the efficient way to run an airline? Outstation basing is going bye-bye.

I agree. there is no infrastructure in iad to base the bkw crews there....yet. I'm suprised though. All the SHD flying went saab, but those crews come from HEF or other places. I was down in greenville NC a few weekends ago trying to nonrev out, and the tsa guys stopped me when he saw my colgan id. He said that colgan was going to start flying 2 flights a day from PGV to IAD starting in march. I guess the airport there was already making room for united counter and looking for gate agents etc. That would be an awesome base for a single fo. Huge college town, awesome "scenery" and dirt cheap. When I went to school there I had a 2 bedroom townhouse for 350 a month! THat town would be trouble on an overnight. We need a fantasy rumor league for colgan. Get a pool going, everyone pick their favorite rumor or base closing, and see who has the best luck!
