| Junior Member | My airline has jumpseat agreements with a few different carriers. However I live in my base and have no use for jumpseating for a commute. Is jumpseating reserved only for commuting or can I use it for "personal" purposes? |

| Old Skool | Use it for anything you want. Always travel in uniform with your ID and passport. Very handy when the flight loads fill up unexpectedly due to a cancellation.

| I sometimes change out of uniform, at least the shirt anyway, for my commute home if I have time. But I still keep my ID showing and my passport/medical readily available. The mil fightsuit to shirt-and-tie conversion is still not complete. |

| Old Skool | Some people feel the need to get rid clothes that will identify them as "undesirable".

| It is good etiquette to cede your jumpseat to someone getting to work if you are traveling for pleasure. |

| Old Skool | Out of curiosity what does traveling in uniform have to do with it other then getting through the TSA line? If I'm not traveling directly to a flight, I never travel in uniform, whether I am planning on jumpseating or now. I do wear a button down or polo shirt and slacks though. Would you deny somebody not in uniform? |

| It allows you to not need a boarding pass to get through security and it allows you to ignore the 3 fl oz rule with your personal carry on's. It also allows you to go through the "flight crew" line at security and customs, which can save you a lot of time.

Dress the part, act the part. Unless you want to drink, there is no valid reason to NOT wear your uniform. And if you're jumpseating, you really shouldn't be drinking anyway.

| Old Skool | I'm planning on wearing my uniform going to Vegas....at least until I'm passed TSA. It's up for grabs after that. Odds are I won't have to ride up front, though, since the flight is fairly open. Basically, I just don't wanna have to buy two things of contact solution and toothpaste so my wife and I can both be comfortable. Call me picky.

| I travel in full uniform because: a. got off work and trying to catch the flights home(2 legs commute). b. TSA ![]() The questions I have a. do you say hi to crew up front if you are non-rev or have a seat assigned in the back? b. Do I offend FA to ask for drinks when he or she is serving the cabin?

B. If they're alcoholic drinks and you're in uniform I can imagine why you may be getting some strange looks. Other than that, don't they (mostly) serve drinks anyway?

| Old Skool | Don't drink alcohol while in uniform. Its a good way to get a visit to the Chief Pilot's office, if not fired.

| I'm pretty sure we're not allowed to drink while jumpseating, uniform or not, cockpit jumpseat or cabin seat.

| Old Skool | I think by "drinks" he meant of the non-alcoholic variety. ![]() Ya know when the FA asks "would you like something to drink?"

| Old Skool | You'd be surprised. I know of a NWA pilot deadheading in uniform who had a drink. Even though he was deadheading to crew rest, he was dumb enough to drink in uniform. Good night, game over, drive home safely.

| Sorry, I guess I confuse you guys. I meant something like soft drinks... ![]() The reason why I asked - Would FAs feel I am increasing their work loads by asking something to drink?

| If in uniform some FA's offer bottles of water before the door is closed. This happens mostly on express flight, as the planes are smaller. As long as your not a royal pain, then asking for something is okay. Most of the time you don't have to ask, they will offer you something to drink. |

| Old Skool | I'm about 99% sure that guy is no longer employed. The girl's mom called and complained.
