Default Good News for ASA!

The transfer of -700s has stopped and ASA will operate 8 former Comair -700s out of CVG.

Okay, I erased my original feelings on this.

I've come to the realization that it doesn't matter if any or all regionals whipsaw each other. . . it's going to happen.

So, Skywest gets some Comair flying. . . so Comair is the loser.

Skywest gives the flying to ASA . . . so ASA is the winner. Yipee!!

Still need a damn contract.

This still ends up being a transfer of 70's away from Comair.

#### Delta, and their ####ing DCI plans. There got that off my chest.

And still less flying at Mainline, so cry me a river. Sorry had to do it, it's been too long since I spoke about regionals...gotta keep the love going.

Not really. All the ASA -> SKW transfers are going down, it's just now ASA gets 8 of Comair's ...

ASA 10 yr capt. make $84/hr on the -700.
SKW 10yr capt. makes $71/hr on all three airframes but might get a little extra for the override if the planets are aligned correctly.

Guess who trumps all:

Comair 10y CR7 CA = $93/hr

So much for quality feed in the Delta system.....

Now Big Sky....WTF is up with that?

Personally I'm not a big fan of parasitic growth at feed airlines. ASA is my first choice as a regional but I'm not exactly cheering because of this announcement. It might benefit pilots at ASA, but it will most assuredly negatively impact employees and their families at Comair. So I'll hold off my resounding cheer. The funny thing about this industry is that this same thing could happen to ASA in a couple years. And it will be hard to dance once that shoe is then on the other foot.

The whipsaw needs to stop.

it'll never happen. way too easy to get a regional airline job (500/50 to 600/100). plus ERAU says now is an excellent time to become a pilot....gag.

Yes, just try to find out how deep in the pool you will be sitting.

My interview is on the 8th of Jan at ATP in JAX. Inside sources tell me they are trying to fill a 15 Jan and a 22 Jan Class. So I'm guessing the pool is going to be or already is quite empty. Sounds like things are looking better over at ASA now. IMO it looks like a good time to get on. And hopefully with less reserve time too.

Interesting. . . I hadn't heard of any new classes during the end of this year. Hence I was wondering about the pool depth. Perhaps they are starting classes the first of the year, so that will help.

Good luck with the interview.

Eek. . .

No, not an ASA pilot. (check my logbook in sig). I'm just a simple primary student with ASA goals.

My knowledge in regards to hiring pools (and the lack of classes) is based off of information coming from a couple ASA crewmembers.

Good luck with the interview.

There have been several classes this year, and there are many classes to come next year. We are to hire 180 pilots by May. If you are in the pool, and haven't heard from anyone in the HR dept, then you need to call them. They need people badly, and are having a really hard time filling the January classes.
