| I'm just wondering what exactly a drop trip is. How does it work? |

| Basically, you want to get off for a particular event or something, and try to "drop" the trip. This means it goes into "open time"; unassigned trips that go to reserves or can get picked up by lineholders. You lose the pay for that trip. But, because pretty much every airline isn't properly staffed, this is out it works: Pilot: "Hi, this is Captain Joe Diggs, and I'm wanting to drop my four day pairing on the 28th." Scheduing: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" *CLICK*

| Sounds exactly like ASA as well. One other thing though....after the laughing you will hear "Please hold....(2-3 minutes go by)....OK we have just junior-manned you for a trip, ready to copy?" |

We have an 'authorized personal drop' policy, but you're not paid for the drop and you can only use it when it's not a major holiday, irregular operations, there's a large buffer between 'reserves available' and 'reserves required' systemwide (all bases) on your equipment, the planets are aligned and Regis Philbin hasn't gone spastic in sixteen consecutive shows.

| We don't have the ability to drop a trip. I tried to get out of a 1-day trip that's been wedged right after 8 days off (vacation) and followed by 2 days off. I'd call in sick, but that will be too obvious.

| I just had my four-day "auto-dropped!" FBOed is what they call it: Flown By Operations. Basically, a new-hire FO needed to fly OE with the check airman I had on my trip, so they dropped it, and are paying me for it. Now, that means I have 13 days off in a row. Had 7 days off after this four-day, and two before. I almost feel like I should go somewhere this week, like Europe or St. Johns BVI.

| Bog you need to join or fly in the reserves. Mesa couldn't do anything if you wanted to drop a trip. |

As for the reserves, I'm too old to start now.
