| Old Skool | [ QUOTE ] I sort of have a delema. I am a pickey eater and I want to be an airline pilot as all of you know. According to my docter I am in perfect health and stuff. I'll eat like pasta and hamburgers, and tacos- stuff like that. My problem is I CAN'T eat salad or any green veggies. It makes me almost throw up. I'll eat most fruits, so I guess I eat kinda healthy. I drink a lot of water, a little pop, milk, and stuff like that. I'll eat some sandwiches and definatly Subway. I'll also eat McDs sometimes. Basically it comes down to this question. Will my eating habits affect me in the long, run?? I am very active and like to workout. Will this affect me as a pilot? Thanks [/ QUOTE ] I think you CAN eat green vegetables but that you just don't want to. Forgive me please if your alergic which I doubt since you didn't list it. Will your eating habits affect your ability to be a pilot? Yes and no. As a pilot you'll be on the road alot more then usual and may not have either the time or the energy to always exerise. Not to mention that you'll be around fast food alot when in the terminal. If you only eat what taste good to you it could cause your blood pressure to rise. Eating and drinking lots of sugars could cause diabeties. The greasy foods could start your arteries to clog and give you high cholesteral. Making you more prone to heart attacks and strokes. All the things that I have listed are airline career killers. But I think your what 15-16 so knowledge of health and importance of eating green vegetables will come in time as you mature. I workout 3 times a week and am very fit and healthy so my wanting to be a pilot does concern me as I don't want my weight to sprial out of control. But heeding my own advice and others who have posted in this thread like Alchemy and Flychicaga for example will help keep both my eating habits in the future and my weight in check! -Matthew |

| I thought it was bad now living on my flight instructor money but atleast I get to cook a meal at home. How the heck am I going to eat on the road if/when I make it to a regional!?!? It seems like it worked out for most of you guys because you needed to lose the weight but I weigh 120lbs soaking wet. |

| Old Skool | If your 120 lbs. soaking wet. You probably have a very high metobolism and burn off calories extremely quickly. So you need not worry about gaining weight until your metoblism slows down after age 30. If your still younger then age 30 currently. -Matthew |

| Yep...and tax free! On a 9-hour reduced rest overnight my dinner is usually a cup of ramen or a granola bar. And in Mexico you can eat like a king for $10. There are ways! |

| Old Skool | Had a long layover in SYR last night- the rooms have a kitchenette, and there's a supermarket rigtht across the street, so I bought, cooked, and ate a steak, kaiser roll, and a couple of cold ones right in my room. And I watched 'Chicken Run' while I did it. Total cost? $6.35. Having a steak, beer, and free DVDs while slam-clicking your dud crew? Priceless. |
