Just curious...how are the recalls going at Delta? Are they just happening at a very slow trickle? Sometime last year I had heard rumors of mass early retirements at Delta (probably due to the pension situation). I haven't kept up with aviation news so I don't know what happened. You'd think that even with Delta's financial problems, they would have to do lots of recalls if a whole bunch of pilots retired. Plus, I recall Doug suddenly saying that he could now be a 767ER lineholder at NYC, and that he wasn't far from MD88 captain. Certainly it sounds like there is upward movement on the seniority list! |

Nothing 'sudden' about it. I could hold the ER for a few years and wasn't really all that far from MD-88 CA seniority. But it's been that way for a while and nothing 'sudden' whatsoever.

man I remember sitting next to this Delta guy on a SWA flight back in 2002. he had been furloughed for 6 months or so and saw my Reno Air Races shirt and started talking to me. He was telling me how he makes a bagillion dolalrs flying a G-4 somewhere- then he casually reaches over and adjusts my collar that was stickin up. My suspision started to rise. Then the cheap bastard who was renting my instruction services for the weekend accepted his offer to hook us up with a room at a crew discount. The guy gives us a ride to the hotel, then comes in the room with us. Next thing I know he claps his hands together and says, "ok whos up for hittin the town?" Wooooooooooo!!!!!!! I said sorry, I'm goin to bed! The guy says, hey let me give you my number, I know a few people that might be able to get you a job around here. I give him my business card, and get a call from him twice in one day a few days later. Yikes! Now you tell me, why would this guy be so eager to help a CFI out like that? Dude- I get the chills thinking about it everytime. Nothing against Delta. The subject just reminded me of him! |

| One of my friends in Atlanta took his retirement to save his pension, then about 36 hours later, he was brought back by Delta as a "retired" instructor-captain on the 767- I haven't heard from him since, so hopefully that means he's still busy with that............. |

I met a retired Delta 767 Captain earlier this year. He took early retirement and will be spending the summer flying 207s and Navajos up here in Alaska for a change of pace. One little hitch though: he didn't have his commercial single, something he rectified in a 152 somewhere down in Florida. Neat guy.
