How many hours of per diem are you regional pilots getting a month with SkyWest or Express Jet etc..........? And how many hours are you allowed to fly per month? I know you get paid for 75hrs/month but just how far before you max out? Thanx JR |

Per diem varies from 120 hours a month for locals up to 320-350 for 4 day trips. Currently at Skywest $1.60/hour and has been for 1.5 years - might be increased with new TA. 75 hours is minimun for the CRJ and 80 for the Brasilia - you will not make less. 75 is reserve on both. Normally Brasilia lines are 82-89 hours. I always fly a little extra - 100-110. Limit is 120/month on the Bro and 100 on the jet. |

JayAre, let me try it one more time ![]() All of this is about SkyWest, I know ExpressJet also has good if not better set up. The time limits mentioned above are the actual flight time limits or block time. The time you get paid is a bit more and called credit time. So for example imagine a 1 hour scheduled flight (block) flying which you get paid 1:07 (credit). If you over fly that leg - actual time will be paid. That data comes from bid packeges - published and given to crewmembers options of schedules (lines) for bidding. Anyway the bottom line: You might fly 82 (example again) hour line and put 82 hours in your logbook but make money for 85 hours. In Feb. I have scheduled block of 102 hours (below my 120 limit) and get paid for 115. If you are on reserve and fly less than 75 hours credit - your pay check still will be at 75. Hope this helps |

For ExpressJet, we have $1.60 per diem per hour, and it will go up in 5 cent increments for the duration of our contract (I think 1.65 in 06 and 1.70 in 08? Not sure.). As for pay, we get paid for block or better... will be leg by leg in May. This means, we get paid the better of what's scheduled or what we actually fly. Like in EWR, if we wait 2 hrs for deicing, another hour for takeoff, then fly a 2 hr flight, we'll get paid 3 extra hours above the normal scheduled flight time of 2 hrs. Plus we get extra pay for clearing customs and other such things. All in all, totaled up, we can make the equivalent of maybe 120-140 hrs of pay in a month, when only guaranteed 75. Depends on overages, extra flying, delays, what not.

[ QUOTE ] ..we get paid for block or better... will be leg by leg in May... [/ QUOTE ] At SkyWest it's also block or better leg by leg and has been as long as I've been here. Also if you pick up unscheduled flying (open time) within 10 days it will be paid at 1.5 your rate. Happens a lot esp. in the summers. |
