Default pinnacle?

Anyone know whats up with Pinnacle lately? I accidentally applied to them via airlineapps for some reason and I recieved any email from Ms Cunningham in HR stating thanks for submitting an application and that I would not be considered for an interview until I completed my ATP written. Is that just formal stuff or is something possibly in the works? I guess I just need to go ahead and get that ATP written done now, if nothing else this just gives me alittle motivation to finally get it out the way.

I got the same response. They require the ATP written. I am doing the same - study and get it over with.

For the past several years Pinnacle has required the written ATP to be passed with an 80% or better in order to get an interview. That is nothing new.

Pinnacle has not announced any job openings yet although there have been some signals that could indicate that they will need to start hiring some first officers in the near future.

I would also expect the minimums to not be less than the published minimums for Colgan on the initial hiring.

Because their written takes some questions from the ATP, some from high speed aerodynamics, some from Jepp plates, etc., and requires you to get a 70% or better...

:yeathat: They'll borrow from all the other bases until they have to cancel flights in all the hubs due to crews. It's already happening in DTW and MEM. With the displacements outta ATL, they're gonna be on shoestrings there, believe it or not. They already displaced a decent chunk of FOs out of there a few months back. This is ANOTHER 20. Who knows what's gonna happen with MSP, but I doubt we'll see any growth slots there. DTW is likely gonna see an increase in number of total CA and FO slots from this displacement, and if they do what makes sense, MEM should see an increase in total slots, too. At least they should. I know of at least 5 flights in the past week that canceled due to no CA or FO. I've already been JMed on my day off on Tuesday.

If we hire, it'll likely be a day late and a dollar short. I think they realized we need to hire, and this gets people in the seats quicker than hiring. It's a band aid fix at best. If they go with the plan of not hiring at all in 2010, we're gonna be in a world of hurt.

If you look at the industry right now, you are starting to see some regional airlines hiring and recalling. Those are the companies that have proper planning and can see where this thing is going.

I believe the work rule changes will catch the airlines if congress is able to get the changes in place (as promised) this year.

If the work rule changes are put in place the airlines are going to need 30-40% more pilots and flight attendants to fly the same routes.

If the work rule changes go through then Pinnacle (and just about every Regional) must hire pilots in 2010 or they will be parking a bunch of aircraft.

Even without the work rule changes, we're gonna need people. We've had a lot of guys either actually find other flying jobs or just say "screw this, it's not worth it." Even in this stagnant industry, I move up about 2 seniority spots a month. I've moved up 21 seniority spots in a year. That's saying something being on the CA side in a period where hardly anyone is hiring and pilots are still on furlough. The guys that used to get 17 days off are now down to 11 or 12, and they're pretty hacked off about that. When you're bidding #10 in base and you're getting the same amount of days off as the guy bidding #90, it tends to rub you the wrong way. Instead of hiring, they've just been working everyone as hard as they can until they get to the 100 hours in a month. Plenty of FOs are over 90 hours. In fact, I'm reserve, and I'M gonna top 90 hours this month. Only 2 hours of that is a deadhead, too. Block hours for me are actually about the same. Thanks to our "15 minute rule," for a while there my block hours were MORE than my credit.

If the rest rules do get changed this year, Pinnacle's gonna need to get in front of it fast, or we're gonna be looking at mass cancellations due to timed out crews. Problem is, it takes a couple of months to get an FO trained if you're pushing hard. They'll wait until the last possible minute to hire. By then, it may be too late.

Ninety (90) hours on reserve would suck. It does not have to be this way.

It shouldn't. Reserves should be there to cover irops, sick calls and missed commutes. Instead, we're covering open time because everyone else is either illegal to pick it up, burned out or too tired to do it. So, they give it to the reserves. Then when you get sick calls, broken airplanes or guys miss their commutes b/c our non rev benefits got shanked, they have to either junior man or extend a line holder. I'm still waiting to see who my FO is gonna be tonight. The guy that had on it was a lineholder getting extended to cover it. He told them where they could stick the trip, and last I checked, I didn't have an FO. It only adds humor to the fact that whoever winds up on the trip, BOTH of us will be flying on our day off.....

No, this has been going on all month.

Wes, I'm going to JAX. They STILL have the same FO on there according to CrewTrac. Maybe they didn't get the "I'm not doing it" memo yet.

That is hilarious! On the message they left last night, they had 3 highspeeds and a couple of overnights that would end up as 3 or 4 day trips.
