Spot on. Not condoning the behavior, just saying, you get what you pay for. All the Ivy league puke CEO's can lie and come up with every excuse. And this Randy guy, I'm sure he was around during much different times when they were paying a livable wage and had a decent amount of time at home.

He's probably forgetting about how widespread the industry has been demoralized since he was last in it.

I'm not condoning unprofessionalism, but treating (and compensating) the airline industries highest skilled professionals like Subway Sandwich "Artists" and then stating that we have a professionalism problem without also talking about the causal effects is hollow.

Yes, some of us have professionalism issues, MOST of us do not and all of the legislation in the world and DALPA-esque "Recovery Compacts" aren't going to change it.

Oops, I think I did it again.

I love how EVERYTHING is a sign of a larger problem. Too young, Too old, too inexperienced, or we like to look at porn on our laptops in the cockpit, we were never trained how to recover a stall, or there is no professionalism, and this somehow becomes everyone that touches an airplane. What happened to the simple realization that every once in a while someone will act like an idiot. It doesn't mean that the FAR's have to be immediately rewritten, or that there needs to be hundreds of pages written in congress. Sometimes people do stupid things. Its a fact of life.

Don't get me wrong, there are things that can and should be changed, but I just don't get how every little thing creates a stereotype and shows a industry wide deficiency. We are going to knee jerk our way off a cliff. The government seems to be full of a bunch of self indulgent drama queens.

Okay I feel better now...Sorry about that
