So this past Wednesday was my scheduled day to take the At-sat. Roughly a week prior i really took the time read the green book, played the games on jeremyjustice.com and did everything I could to prepare for the big day. The test start at 8 am with registration beginning at 7:30. It takes me roughly two hours to drive to where the test was going to be given to just to be on the safe side I set my alarm for 4 am and planned on leaving at 4:30. This would give me a solid half hour of time to play with in case I wanted to grab some food or anything like that. As soon as I got on the highway the light drizzle that had been going on since I woke up turned into a more of a steady rain which slowed me down a lil bit but seeing as how I left so early I was still well within my time to get there. Roughly 90 Minutes in the trip I noticed that my car was driving a lil' funny. I slowed down to around 60 mph just to see if it was the fact that I was hydroplaning or was something really wrong with my car. After a few miles of this I came to a service station on the turnpike and decided to pull over and take a look at the car. As I got out of my car I noticed that the Left-rear wheel was noticeably flat. It was completely flat by any means but was a little more than "oh Ill just put some air in it its been a few months anyways". I drove up to the gas station talked to the attendent showed him what was going on he said this happens all the time (he works on the turnpike so I can imagine he gets alot of flat tires driving up to the service station theres only an exit about every ten miles) and all I need to do is put some filler in it after I put air in it, drive around for a few minutes let it harden and I'll be good to go. At this point my GPS says ETA 7:35 so even though Im still within the time I need to arrive I wont be as early as I want to be. As soon as I hit the road the wheel was now driving worse than it was before and the car was shaking a ton and I knew I better pull over now because the car wont make it. When I pull over and look at the wheel I know theres no way I can drive anymore on it let alone another 45 miles. I look at my GPS and realized that if I change it I wont have enough time to make the test so when it was pitch black, 50 degrees, rainy, and on the side of the highway I put that pathetic lil spare on and took off. My GPS said 8:10 so I knew I had to make up some serious time. So on that lil spare (I DO NOT CONDONE THIS TYPE OF BEHAVIOR) I floored it going anywhere from 85 to 90 the rest of the way. Needless to say I pulled up the the hotel where the test was given and ran in and got to the room at 7:58 only to see the door already closed with a "Shh Test In Progress" sign on the door. I opened it anyways, what did I have to lose and the man reading the instructions said sorry, but they have already started and he shut the door. I sat outside the room freaking out for about ten minutes knowing that theres no way I would get a second chance until another gentleman giving the exam came outside asked me for what was going on, I told him the whole story he laughed, told me to go to the bathroom, freshen up ( i was covered in mad in my nice dockers and dress shirt, awesome) he then read my the directions and was nice enough to give me the full 8 hours anyways even though I was not starting till around 8:30. To either top off the story in a great way or an awful way. I flew through the test, with the exception of the questions on Letter Factory and a hand full of the Analogies I thought the test was very do-able. Yes I just used that word. I will make another post with hopefully some tips for future At-sat takers. Hope this made a few of you chuckle. |

| They are still six behind! But I'll be honest, if (and that is a big if) the browns make it to the Super Bowl, I'll want them to win, unless my Steelers were beat out by them

Here's another bit of humor... Center: "Air Force 12492, say call sign of your wingman." Pilot: "Umm. Center... I'm a single ship." Center: "Ohh! You have traffic!" lol |

yesterday to NORDO aircraft who has just come up on frequency after 15 mins of being lost in Frequency land. "N1XXXX traffic 6 'o clock, 2 miles and closing 2 F-16's climbing out of 8500 for your altitude." (The controller was not supposed to be calling traffic to TOI but I thought it was pretty funny) | |
