So I'm waiting to get my geographical preference email and I see that everyone else is getting theirs. I go ahead and make a call. I talk to Mikki I think and she puts me on hold for about 5 minutes. She comes back on and says she looked at my "file" and it shows that I'm 2 months shy of the 3 years required of experience. But then she says well that was at the time the application was submitted (Feb 15th) so now since its been over 2 months since the Feb 15 closing date that I now have the 2 months I need and should REAPPLY to the next announcement. I asked why I was allowed to take the ASAT and she said because they were in such a push to get people in they didn't look over the apps til after tests were taken. Wow, now I get to do the waiting game all over again, which really I guess is just the beginning of it from what I see now. And now I get put behind the group off apps I should have been in with (Feb 15th) and have to be put in with the next announcement 2 months later. AHH...

Hi,

With all due respect, you should have known when you initially applied that you did not meet the minimum requirements. If they had looked over your application prior to the AT-SAT, it would have been rejected, and guess what? They would have told you to re-apply the next time around anyway, and you would have been in the same position that you are now. Well almost...

Look at it this way, at least you took care of the AT-SAT. Have you re-applied for the May announcement?

Well they are kinda vague when they ask for experience. I missed the 5/2 announcement because I just found out about this yesterday. Is there another this month?

I just missed the 5/2 announcement as well. So I too would be interested in knowing if anyone knows if there will be another announcement soon? Any guesses??? Thanks in advance!

Same exact thing happened to me. I was shy by 2 months (but have 5 years of work experience just didn't include them all) luckily I reapplied for the May announcement.

It's better to get the ATSAT done now (while you get the 2 months out of the way) rather than make you wait more later on.

Agreed, get the AT-SAT done as soon as you can and know that it is under your belt. I passed up two opportunites to take it last summer and wasn't invited back until April to do it. Now I am waiting with everyone else to get a referral, etc.

The process is slow, but I wouldn't get worked up about it unless you are quickly approaching your 31st birthday or something. As frustrating as it may seem, I do have to side with the gov't on their hiring processes as this type of work is not something that you just throw someone off of the street into. Hang in there!
