| Junior Member | What's the number you have been calling? We could all bother them now and try to get it done as opposed to just one person.

Guys and Gals, Let it rest...you know this is the US Government and the FAA we are talking about. I've been on this Earth for 29 years now and worked for airlines for 10 of them...you have to understand they move SLOWLY, which is probably a good thing, so they don't waste time giving the AT-SAT to random joe-schmoes... Lay off the phone calls....watch your ASAP and your email and it'll happen. I have a feeling because of the second posting ending 5/30, it was probably because they didn't have enough applications for the 5/2, or even enough qualified, and they are just waiting to lump us all into one. It'll happen....just chill....it's a high stress job as it is....no need to add to the stress level for anybody.

Brajit, Its not putting more stress on anybody and on behalf of everyone on this forum...just keep those comments to yourself "stop calling and chill". Some of us have a lot riding on this and if we want to call we are going to call... sorry if I sound rude!! vic

| brajit, first off, the job of the people answering the phone is to take questions from applicants. Second, the HR manager at the Chicago Regional Office said to keep calling the number for aviation careers. She said that is the best way to get up to date information. ASAP isn't a very good system for learning what is going on with the applicants.

It would be better for everyone if ASAP had better feedback information for the applicants, and maybe an automated process for getting updates from the panels. It should post info quickly like the AT-SAT process. | |

I got the message as well. It was nice seeing something different on the ASAP page. Really adds color to it.

I would like CVG, just because that is where I am from (although they are slowly declining the amount of traffic there,) or anywhere south of LEX. I live in Lexington now where I am in school at UK, but I need to get out of a college town. I want warm weather, as everyone else does, but I want to go to a facility that will give me adequate and timely training. I would love to go somewhere in FL, particulary MCO, but anywhere warm would be my first choice. Even going out west would be nice, I just worry about the cost of living out there.

here is a little update for all of you...... i am a feb OTS applicant, and have already taken the AT-SAT. however, i made 5 people i know apply for this announcement that ended 05/02/08. i kept the email i had received from Robinson Aviation because it had the number i needed to call to schedule the AT-SAT. i called just now to find out some info for when they will be testing so i can get a time frame for the people i know. the guy told me that they already received the names of the people who are qualified to take the test, and that emails will start going out in about 2 weeks from now, and then continue after that. he said they will be testing in the month of July for your announcement. so some of you might be getting an email soon. i received my email 24 days after i got the "you have been authorized to take the AT-SAT" message on asap, but i know that some people did receive it about a week earlier than i did. Hope this helps. any other questions let me know.

hello all, Long time listener, first time caller. I'm in the May 2nd pool as well, and got the AT SAT go-ahead. Called Robinson today they said look for the test dates to start early July. Just a bit about myself, PPL for 2 years, about 120 flight hours, 21 years old, trying to jump on this ATC train while I can. Good luck to all and maybe we'll run across each other's paths someday... ok enough with the sentimentel B/S Clear skies and tailwinds! |

Hey gang, First, if I came across as crass/rude/etc, that was NOT my intent and I apologize. I just wanted everybody to remain "chill," because we are getting into a great career and as we progress through it all, it will only get more stressful, so the more we relax now, the less burdening the entire process will be. I know all of us have SOMETHING riding on this whole experience, and I don't discount any of us for trying to get involved. On a better note, I too got my AT-SAT authorization. The next round of waiting begins. And if you can get your hands on the "Air Traffic Control Career Prep" book at your library (or order it from www.bn.com), it really has a detailed view as to what we are getting into....one guy recalls his time through the training at MMAC in OKC (old facility, but I only got to experience CAMI last year) and another person's recall on his starting at ZTL....pretty vivid and will give you a really detailed look from one person's perspective about the whole ordeal.

I have been reading these posts for a while, but have just now decided to join in on the fun . I too applied 05/02/08 and have been authorized to take the AT-SAT. I was just about to join the navy on a five year enlistment as an ATC, when a friend of a friend (who is the supervisor over the Montgomery airport) told me that I should put in an application. We have been conversing back and forth and i think that i would really enjoy working under him, especially since it is a smaller facility and he said that becoming fully certified would be much faster than at the larger facilities such as ATL, which i currently live only forty five minutes away from. For now i will just keep anxiously waiting with everyone else . Does anyone think that it would be better to go ahead and enlist to get the experience, especially since the failure rate of OTS hires is so high?

| There is a very slim chance of getting to the BOS/A90/MHT area. VERY well staffed, as far a staffing goes. Have many contacts up there that say the same.

As I have said before, and I will say it again in this forum. Be very careful when deciding on where to apply. ATL/A80/ORD/N90/MIA all these places sound and look glamerous, but if you happen to wash out, and our washout rate is huge (about 75%), you will not have an oportunity to go anywhere else. As the FFAA used to do in the past, I would recommend going to a mid-level facility, IE SAV/CHS/AGS/SFB, etc that can teach you HOW to become a controller. ATL Tower or TRACON is not the place for that, it is too busy and intense. Good Luck to all. |

| ATLTRACON, do you know how the staffing is at any of the NJ facilities or JFK/LGA/ISP - things in that area?

I recall JFK being mentioned on the news, as one of the most affected by the "ATC crisis", so there is a strong possibility that they're understaffed. I'm not entirely sure what type of a facility you are interested in but I know of several other NY facilities that are worth looking into, such as: Westbury's TRACON. Ronkonkoma's ARTCC (ZNY). Westchester's ATCT. NY TRACON.
