Took the test on Friday the 28th at Holtsville NY got the results today (4/1). Only got an 89.4. I thought I did better than that.

I was a little worried about how I did due to two things;

1) The letter factory. I don't think that I got more than 2 or 3 of the random questions correct. I did the rest of the letter factory perfectly though without any errors.

2) The simulator. I crashed 2 planes into the wall because I didn't line them up perfectly with the exits and they barely hit the edge. I ended each round with 1 plane still in the air - I couldn't seem to get them all landed before time ran out. My efficiency ratings were something like 1st: 85%, 2nd: 90%, 3rd: 80%. The third round is where I crashed both planes.

I felt very confident about the remainder of the test. The only other section that I had a few doubts on was the analogies... Some of them were pretty out there.

I ended up with a 100% though, so apparently crashing 2 planes and getting a bunch of letter factory questions incorrect was acceptable!

My score was a 71.4 just barely over passing, I thought I did much better, but I guess not, I took the test last Friday. What are my odds at getting contacted, and also what do I do now, do I just wait or what ?

Question for all of you guys who scored 100s --

How many of the states that you applied for did you actually make the referral lists for? Was there anyone who scored a 100 and did NOT make it onto a referral list for a particular state?

I scored a 100 and am highly considering only listing one state on my preference list, but I don't know if I'm rolling the dice by doing that or not. If I don't make the referral list for whatever reason, I do not pass go, do not collect $200 and have to wait until next year to apply again.

From what I understand the difference between your 100 and someone elses 85 is nothing under the current score banding method.

To further address the potential problem of adverse impact, FAA officials decided to abandon a strict “topdown” approach to hiring and, instead, use a category ranking method. This approach is a form of “score banding” that can be justified on the basis of ignoring score differences that are due to an estimate of the applicant’s true ability. Score banding, although somewhat controversial among selection scientists, “will almost always produce less adverse impact than strict rank ordering” (Biddle, 2005, p. 103) as it ignores score differences likely to be statistically insignificant. Under this scheme, job fair applicants who achieve a qualifying minimum score are divided into two groups: those scoring 85 and above (termed “well qualified”) and those scoring from 70 to 84.9 (termed “qualified”). Those in the “well-qualified” group will be offered employment before anyone in the “qualified” group.

I took the test on April 1st in Lisle, Illinois and received my score of 78 yesterday, April 2nd. I am disappointed but not lacking hope. Given what others have said regarding their test and how it went, I thought I'd score higher. Anyone else reading this that was there with me?

For those of you in the "Qualified" category as myself don't fret I have made many referral list and not been picked as of yet but I just made the Seattle and Auburn WA list as well. Hopefully I'll get picked up on this one!!! But if not I won't lose hope and neither should any of you. Just remember with the gov't it's always hurry up and wait.

I wasn't with you but I did take the test in Lisle on 3/21. The guy next to me came in about a half hour late, took the first two tests and then put his head down and took a nap. He was kind of snoring for awhile too. When I left around 1:15pm, he was still sleeping.

Ha! I would have loved to have been there when he woke up! I took the test in Lisle, and three people showed up around 8:30. I didn't think they would even be allowed to take the test. One woman had her I-Pod playing during the test! Finally the administrators asked her to turn it off. An hour later, her and the guy next to her started talking to each other while taking the test!

Talking Re: ATSAT Scores

I thought it was the most fun test i had ever taken. It wasn't as easy as i thought it would be, but i still got a 90. I also am lucky because I only waited 2 weeks to take the test.

I'm a little worried now about what happens next though... I have no background in ATC whatsoever, so i applied though a job listing. They said that i could only choose 'throughout the US' and i did, but when do i choose where i go? I want a time line i suppose for the next steps.

I am feeling more and more discouraged about my odds of getting this job. I don't see many people on here that received a "qualified" score. If "well-qualified" gets offered the jobs first, I think I am probably screwed since I have no aviation experience.... I am hoping that if I learn the 7110.65s, that maybe that will increase my chances... Anyone else in the same boat?

I'm "well qualified" with no aviation experience except forecasting for ~1 year which hardly counts... I was just an intern and I'm sure they don't give a rat's @$$ about that. I only applied to one state last year and I didn't get selected for an interview this time around. I don't know when they're meeting again, but I'm impatient, I hate my current job and I just want out of here!

I don't think it matters if you learn the .65, there's nowhere to put that on your application unless you write it on your resume... and who knows if they actually even look at resumes??!

My only reasoning for that was because in the list of interview questions one was, "What have you done in preparation for this job?" Something like that. In which case I would mention that I've already begun to read the 7110.65s..... It sounded brilliant in my head.....

ahhhh! gotcha! I thought you meant reading it in order to help you get an interview. That's a good idea, I've been reading it myself. I never thought of it as an answer to that interview question. I suck at interviews anyway, so chances are if i DID get one, I'd probably blow it anyway and not get the job

Dose anyone know how likely it is to be called for and interview with no prior aviation experience and a test score of 87.7?

My daughter received her score today, a 100. Is it definite that the DFW PEPC date is 4/28?

Thanks for the help.

I don't think it matters if you learn the .65 NOT YET IT DOESN'T MATTER. The quicker you learn the .65, the easier your transition to becoming a controller. There is nothing more that an instructor at your first facility hates more than someone who cannot even be bothered to learn the ONLY book we use to do our job, there's nowhere to put that on your application unless you write it on your resume... and who knows if they actually even look at resumes??!

Just what the FFA needs. Someone who cannot even be bothered to show up on time. Why even bother to take the test, you're just taking up space for someone who actually wants to take it.

I was shocked that they let the three people who came in late to our testing take the test! I figured they would be asked to leave. Instead, they took them into the hall and explained everything to them over again. They just spent 20 minutes explaining it to everyone who was there on time!

Did anyone else get startled when a plane crashed on the simulation (if you crashed a plane)? I jumped a little and everyone in the room turned to look at me. Maybe a person a jumpy as myself shouldn't be an air traffic controller. 92.6
