Default Got my tentative offer letter today

I got my tentative offer letter in the mail today for Palo Alto in Ca. That's pretty nice because it's close to home.

The only thing that worries me is them asking about drug usage. I smoked pot 2 or 3 times in maybe..2001..will they care?

Also, FYI since people seem to care, starting salary is $42,097

$42k may sound like a lot, but it won't go far at all in PA or anywhere else in Silicon Valley. Good luck, and avoid any apartments in East Palo Alto like the plague.

Just say you never did drugs before. No way they can know after 7 years, if its really been 7 years. But if you don't want to lie, I don't know if they'll care, especially if you say it was stupid. Although it is a government agency and they are pretty strict about stuff like that.

Anyway congratulations!
Is that base salary or is it $42k with locality pay? Where you a CTI graduate?

I'd have to tell them I think..When signing up for the Air Force I told them I had smoked it.

"$42,097 per annum, which includes 30.33% locality" is what it says..which kind of blows.

aaaaannd no I'm not a CTI grad.

Who did you tell? your recruiter or the people that did your medical?

If it was the recruiter it probably did not end up in your file

Compared to myself and some others I'm sure, consider yourself lucky. I understand the Bay Area (I'm in it for the most part) and it deserves to be much more...but I will be in California as well with about 6k knocked off your number...your locality is more than double mine

Never flew into Palo Alto, Is the tower any shorter than San Carlos'? Ever see that thing? I guess if you've ever driven on 101 you have. (Just joking if anyone's in SQL)

The FFA cares about most everything in your life whether it matters or not. Look at how they treated (and fired) the NY 12. Forgot to check a box on the most screwed up medical form and were fired from NY Tracon. Only thanks to NATCA did they get their jobs back. Just like MySpace and Facebook they can see what you have quoted here and use it against you later. BE CAREFUL!!!
