Just a question to all you ATC guys....do you think NJC could be of benefit to you? We were thinking of possibly including a roundtable session between ATC and the pilots or just the ATC folks alone... you could talk about frequently asked questions or typical conflicts or things pilots and/or ATC should know about the workforce, etiquette, communication etc... would any of those listed above or anything about NJC be of assistance to you all? Just wanted to get some thoughts before our britches get too far in front of us. ![]() Appreciate your ideas!! |

Howdy I'm not an ATC person, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night ![]() I've interacted with Charlotte N.C. ATC both formally – at AOPA Safety events, and out and about at our local airports. During all events ATC asked for interaction and answered any and all questions. Very proactive and not intimidating at all. By far, you should have an open event for both parties.

As a pilot, I think it would be a good idea...now if I could just get to one of these NJC's!

Yeah like have an ATC'r as one of the panel members. That would be cool.

I was under the the impression that Network JC is about career progression for pilots. The only issue for me attending is they tend to be scheduled in the Fall and I'm usually out of leave by then... | |

sure, it is about career progression...and in my opinion, i think ATC falls into that category...but i don't see why it couldn't include career progression of other aviation fields as well too (eventually) kwim?

Absolutely I'm down for a Q and A session. It's always nice to answer questions and help the pilots understand more of what we do and vice a versa(SP?). TB

Thanks, we appreciate the help! Next October is when we'll be holding the roundtables again (19th - 21st)

In fact, if you all want...what do you think of holding an ATC networking/mingle session (separate from all the pilots)? We could do it at the same time as the recruiting event in a different room or on a different date...options are open.

My only issue with Netowrk JC is getting the leave to get out there. Under the current rules of the FAA (IWR's) we have to bid our leave in a rounds one year in advance. This past October we bid all our leave for 2008. I have nothing off in October. Far gone are the days when I could flash and dash to a jumpseat and head across the country for a few days by asking for leave the week before. As I said earlier, I would love to go if for no other reason then to meet Doug and shoot the breeze for a bit. As the date gets close I'm gonna try and finagle the days off but it is way too far out for me to know for sure. |

Kristie, Thanks for the PM, I am unfortunately in the same boat as Fox Xray. It might be possible for 2009 to bid that leave but 2008 is going to be tough, we are hurting now and going to be worse in Feb. TB
