Thumbs up Personnal Experience with AA

Hi All,

I was an international student at Accessible Aviation and just happened to find this forum today.

I was in GTR in the Spring of 2007 in order to get my Instrument Rating there. I was already a PP at that time and I signed for an accelerated training since I had some other studies to do. This is exactly what the school delivered : good price, efficiency and knowledge.

There was no downtime: mornings and early afternoons were used to prepare for the written exam and to get the necessary knowledge to prepare for the real world. Afternoons and evening were used for flight training.

I want to emphasize that flight training at night for the IR is the best thing that can happen. When one is not in actual IMC, IFR at night is the best thing that can simulate actual IMC. No shadows on the dashboard, nothing to look at outside the airplane, increased workload and generally cooler temperatures. Good for training!

I took my checkride during an afternoon. It was quite bumpy and quite hot but I was well prepared and I passed on my first trial. I had scheduled a 10 day training but it finally took only 8. So during the remaining days, I filed and flew IFR solo for practice. This was good to build up confidence.

Carl and Brandon used to teach me. Both of them are great instructors with a lot of knowledge and more importantly, they are really willing to share it. There is no lost time and every minute flown is used for something. Carl knows where he is going, what he wants the student to achieve and what the FAA expects. He will bring you there if not beyond.

If the opportunity happens again, I will try to train there again in the future for additionnal ratings and/or certificates (multi engine and/or CFI). I wished they had a single engine complex for my CPL but hopefully if the FAA achieves its Part 61 reform, complex singles will not be mandatory in the future.

Also GTR is a towered but quiet airport with all kind of IAP nearby (at least as of May 2007).

I would recommend this school without hesitation.
