I am an F/O at a 747 cargo operator. I'm the last dude on the airframe, so I get what's left over. That amounts to reserve, which means I sit in my hotel room, read JC, and either wait until they call me to go fly the airplane or send me home.
I do this 16 days a month. Either the first 16 or the last.

What Staplegun wrote is should be recognized as a universal truth in aviation.
I'm almost there...in striking distance at least.
