Thanks again for your feedback guys! I really appreciate your support!
Well, sometimes it's not easy at all to make a decision, I decided to give myself some additional time to make up my mind, until the end of this month, that should be sufficient.

Would it be at all possible to take the Lufthansa job and work on your JAA conversion while working in Germany?
|
Oh yes, that'd be possible! But it would take me a while, since the conversion is quite an extensive affair, probably at least one year, or even longer. But as you said correctly, the average minimums for pilots to get a commercial job in den EU are by far lower as they are in the US, so I'd probably have a job over there as soon as I finish the conversion!

Maybe wind up instructing or even flying charters on the weekends over there?
|
That is pretty much what I'm planning to do. It doesn't take much to get my JAA PPL, and in the EU you can get your (PPL) Instructor if you have at least 150 hr of PIC as a PPL. So this would be a good opportunity for me to keep flying, build some flight time (even tough it wont be much, because I'd be only flying on the weekends) but most of all I don't have to pay for it, because in Europe flying is pretty expensive (e.g. one hour in a C-172 including instruction is about 390 USD!!! - this dose not include the landing fees!!!)
And as you said, networking is a big part of getting a job in the aviation industry, no matter where you are.
Dankeschön ;-)

I bet your Dad can tell you some great stories about some of the experiences in his life. I'd like to meet him ( survived three wars, Wow ).
|
Oh yes, without a doubt he definitely gained a lot of experience during he's life! He didn't talk much about the war(s) when he was younger, but now as he gets older he starts talking, but mostly about the "funny" things he experienced.

I'm sure you'll make the right decision and whatever it is theres no doubt in my mind you'll be very successful at it. Take care.

I hope so too! Thank you!

I saw somewhere that Lufthansa was looking for CFI's at their school here in the states. Might be a good angle into a better flying job.

Thanks for the info! I do know that LH is looking for instructors, and the pay and benefits are pretty good, but they require 200 hr of dual given which I don't have yet. Their website is down for quite a while now, or it won't load when you try to reach it, it takes for ever.
Thank you very much, and may the future will be bright and shinny for all of us!!!!
PS. I'll let you guys know how I decided and how I'm doing, hopefully everything will turn out to be just fine!
