Round Tables Part II Here's the going thinking on the Round Table format and topics.
Looking at the schedule it would seem the best time to do this would be Monday from 10am until 1pm. If we do it this way, several of us have agreed to purchase pizza for the masses, so you will be able to learn something AND get your grub on.
The format I am pushing for (and have received some support for) is as follows:
Five to seven, 5 to 10 minute "mini lectures" by knowledgeable people on some of the topics that follow. After the lecture the floor would be opened for moderated questions/answers/comments. Discussion time would vary depending on interest in the topic, but discussions would be moderated to no more then 30 minutes, allowing at minimum 5 topics total to be covered.
If a specific topic attracts enough interest, time and space would be available Tuesday afternoon for follow up focus groups to meet (limited to 5 to 10 people plus the "knowledgeable presenter" to moderate) on a first come first serve basis.
I know this seems sort of regimented. In reality, it probably won't be in practice. My biggest concern is allowing everybody to participate and be able to get good information out of this event.
So, here's the topic list. I was going to make it a poll, but there are more then 10 so that wouldn't work too well. Keep in mind, this is going to have to get narrowed down to 5 to 10 total.
In no particular order, as taken from the other thread:
-Career CFIing
-Oral/PT/PC prep
-CRM (probably going to be covered by the Featured Speaker anyways)
-Interview Skills
-Corporate/Fractional Career Path and information
-Freight Career Path and information
-Unions (I don't want to limit this to ALPA stuff only)
-Ways of getting ratings and building time
-Paying for training (not PFT/PFJ, but rather financing etc)
-Getting through 121/135 training
-Staying healthy on the road
-SO relationships
-Career Changers
So, if you like this format idea (and the free pizza) sound off. Also, if you like one/some of these topics (or you've got other ones), here would be a good place to bring that up. Also, if you think you are qualified to be "knowledgeable speaker" on one of these topics (or another), this would be the place to bring it up. |
