Trucking company's tend to sub-contract with air freight carriers and most of those contracts are hard to acquire. When I drove I worked for companies large and small as well as owner operators and we could never get that kind of work. The best gig by far is hauling engines back and forth from the various mfgs and airline engine shops. Sometimes you pull a drop deck with a big fan right up underneath an airliner and they stick it on while you watch.

There rally isn't that much in the way of interface between trucking and airports beyond Fed Ex, UPS, DHL etc...the smaller loads like what Airnet would fly usually go plane side in a 12 ft cargo van. Large general freight loads will get delivered to a warehouse on an airport and loaded out the back on contract cargo carriers like Gemini, World, Polar etc...

As to how to get any of this freight..I start with a broker such as CJ Robinson. It's cheap haul usually but you can request airfreight only. That could lead to contacts that could get you direct contract work.
