My wife got her second discovery flight last night, with a different instructor this time. But even this new instructor was impressed with her abilities at the controls, perfectly cool and calm just like the first time. We spent a few hours chatting with this guy and my wife who just one year ago held not even the slightest interest in aircraft, now has decided to obtain financing and go for her PPL!!
I'm very proud of her! She says she could see herself flying for a major and loving the job. As recently as one month ago my wife looked up in the sky at a passing aircraft and said to me "I don't think I could ever be a pilot, too much stress."
Now here we are and she's gotten two tastes of being PIC, and she's most assuredly been bitten by the aviation bug. She put all her online college plans on hold, she's switching her degree interest to aviation, and hopefully this year will begin her first official flight lessons.
It's kinda ironic, I was the aviation nut since I was 5 yrs old and this girl beat me to the cockpit! I love it.
This might kick-start my own flight lessons as well. I'm gonna try hard to get re-evaluated and hopefully overturn the asperger's diagnosis, and if I'm successful I might just be able to fly myself after all. Wish us luck!
