I like my bose, but I'm not sure I would have paid $1k for it. I got it for a relatively good price which is why I have it.

I think my lightspeeds might be nicer....but that's only because it has the hookup for the ipod on it. I like that.

Both do a great job at canceling the noise. I forgot to turn my bose on the other day and while the passive is okay, when I hit the button I thought for a second the engines had quit working.

Quite nice in that regard.
