I'm on the low end of the pay scale there, work well under 40 hrs a week, pay fairly cheap rent and still manage to save a couple thousand a month. I moved to SoCal from a dirt cheap part of the country and it's about double for rent but food is way cheaper here. Gas is a bit expensive but it's not exactly cheap anywhere you go. Annual income at the club ranges between $40,000 a year for part timers and over $110,000 for the full timers. If $110k isn't enough, even in SoCal, that person might want to re-think about their spending. I wouldn't say SoCal is 4-5 times the cost in general, but if you want to buy a house, yes, it's about what you said. All I'm saying is it's a great gig, especially for being a CFI, and just wanted the original poster to know that he can make some good money being a CFI.
