I'm mostly speaking of private pilots, not so much airlines.
I'm guilty of this.

As a newbie, I was taught "Tell em who you are, where you are, what you want."

Sometimes that stuff unnecessarily bleeds over. I don't tell em' where I am when I'm in the pattern, but I do usually tell em' who I am just out of habit.

And I'm STILL a newbie. And will be for quite some time.
