Downside to the written: it expires. There are guys at Pinnacle that have taken the written 3 times while waiting on that phone call from FedEx.

As for airlines looking down on you for getting the rating, I doubt that's very common. Might get it some places. You don't see regionals looking down on guys b/c they paid ATP money to get an ATP rating. Heck, they ENCOURAGE it.
