If you don't see yourself wanting to live where your choosing facility is located for 10 years or more, do yourself a favor and decline the postition.

I've wrote before, if you have made it on the referral list of a location you really want, call the facility, ask for the manager and let them know your name and info and tell them you really want to be apart of that team. When he/she goes to OKC for the selection panel and comes across your name, he/she will remember what you had told them.
The higher facility says "hey, we want this guy" and the lower facility is almost required to let him go nearly all the time. This is the info i received from my instructor. More openings also means more opportunities for controllers to move around. The higher facilities would rather bring in someone experienced and ready to handle the job. Controllers entering the work force right now are gonna gain seniority real fast and have a good chance of transferring fairly soon after getting checked out.
